Arrive, scruffy looking from the outside, undesirable people stood around outside, and seemed to be smoking weed. 
When booking in I was informed there was a £100 CASH deposit to be paid for the dog, which would be refunded when we left as long as there was no damage. No receipt given eventhough one was requested, he refused. 

I was informed there would be no breakfast provided, eventhough on booking and on my paperwork it clearly showed that breakfast was included. The manager told me this was an issue with booking.com and to take my issue up with them, no part refund given or offered, I felt intimidated by the manager so didn't push to much. 

The room was ok, the bedding was clean, some straining on the curtain linings and carpets, toilet seat was broken, which I reported. The room wasn't cleaned daily and coffees/teas were not restocked, the radiator in the bathroom was on all the time and we were unable to turn it off, it was extremely hot. The PUB had live music playing until early hours in the morning which made sleeping very difficult. 

When checking out I asked to have my £100 deposit back, they when up to the room, turned over the beds, checked every corner of the beds almost looking for an issue, until he found the stained curtain linings, at which point he said your dog has weeded on the curtains you won't be getting your deposit back!! I raised this with the manager, he got very aggressive with me so I felt I couldn't push any more. I have been unable to get this money back.

Misleading, with facilities and charges e.g. dog charges.

I booked two nights bed & breakfast at The Sussex Hotel through bookin.com. I was charged £150. I booked a double room but on arrival it was rooms over a very noisey pub.I was told that they were fully booked and only had a twin room left. I was shown to the room,which was very dated and shabby. The tv didn't work,so I went down and told yhe bar staff,he came and looked at it. He told me that the remote had been pinched and couldn't get it working and would send someone up in 10-15 mins,nobody appeared. There was no toilet roll,I found a roll in a room that had linen in,the tea tray had a kettle,2 coffee sachets, 3 or 4 milk pots,no tea bags and a dirty cup. The next morning after a disturbed night,loud bangs from the room above me and a dog barking and doors slammed. I went to go down for breakfast at 8.22am,the door was locked to go downstairs,a fire door was open at the back of the building. All the doors downstairs were locked and the place was in darkness,no breakfast available. 
I packed my car,pushed the key through the letter box. I rang the hotel and got no answer until 1ish when a member of the bar staff answered,he was not interested that I was not happy and said that I couldn't be reinbursed.
The place corridors smelt of stale urine and I didn't feel safe as a lone female traveller. I was given a complimentary bottle of wine because they didn't have a double room this was no comprnsation for the night I spent there. The only positive was clean bedding.

Nightmare

My partner and I booked a room at this “Hotel” for a last minute trip away. We travelled a couple of hours and arrived at 2pm. We were only staying for the night, so looking forward to a quick check in and then to get out in the sunshine for a well deserved afternoon and evening out. 
When we arrived we were greeted by a couple of staff who said, “oh small problem. We had a leak in the rooms last night so have to find you and three other guests somewhere else to stay”. My partner and I were happy to accept a complimentary drink while they found us somewhere “close by and for the same price”- as these things happen. 
However after 45 minutes of waiting, and waiting for them to have a cheeky spliff, they told us there was a hotel 5 mins away for £80. This turned out to be 15 minutes away- In the wrong direction & was £49 more than our original booking. 
Spent the next hour and a half calling and driving around to find somewhere. 
They had our numbers and could have called us in the morning to save us wasting time, petrol and money! Absolutely disgusting customer service, the place was a dive, and I would NOT recommend.

DO NOT BOTHER!

The place is filthy. Bedding hadn’t been changed, first place in my life I have refused to stay in. The staff look like they need a good wash and the customers looked like drug addicts. 
Clearly the owner doesn’t care as not bothered by the amount of bad reviews 
They have the cheek to charge £75 a night for a squat!!!!!!
The owners should be ashamed

Disgusting filthy dive

I was hoping that there would be no need to review this Hotel as it appeared to have closed down not long after our stay Instead I was going to reveiw the shambles called booking.com However whilst on the Web we noticed it was again advertised with booking.com
My wife's Aunt and Uncle had an afternoon tea bought as a gift and although quite a long travel they decided to go to a Vineyard in Hastings As we often travel together we too booked this and made arrangements to stay in the area 
Due to doing this late there was not a lot of availability 
We found the Sussex Hotel on the booking.com Web site
The pictures looked okay it was described as recently refurbished warm and friendly 
We arrived late afternoon the car park to the rear could only be described as a bomb site a half bent against a wall paddling pool with green water in and litter strewn arround There was a fire escape that seemed rickety and hard to get to we were later told that would be entry on an evening On entering the bar it looked unclean the carpet felt sticky
All kinds of paraphernalia was thrown arround the area with access to the stairs On going into the first room it was very obvious that it was used for smoking and dark and dingy That was my wife's Aunt and Uncles and we were feeling guilty However not for long our room was much the same but on moving arround the bed we found on the floor between the bed and shower what could only be described as animal faceas The shower was a disgrace mouldy and full of grime
As stated earlier it had claimed to be recently refurbished I would like to know what recent meant it can't have been in donkeys years the walls were awful as was the paintwork 
We asked for our money back THEY refused even gave us number straight away for booking.com We rang them explained the situation  that we would not be able to stay under any circumstances have to say the staffthen said would reclean rooms We reiterated how stance and refused to stay Booking.com said they would deal with it and not to worry We then spent almost 4 hours looking for somewhere to stay very difficult as it was a Friday evening In desperation and very reluctantly we tried booking.com They booked us a place in Brighton and we were almost there anyway However even though we had said what rooms we required to booking.com the hotel rang me on my mobile to say these would probably not be suitable as they were basement rooms no windows heating and shared facilities Luckily we found somewhere to stay but at a cost
We pushed for refunds from both the Hotel and booking.com to no avail
Booking.com eventually saying that places described and the detail given on their site had nothing to do with them That it would be too costly to vet each place and they HD to rely that a trueful description was given 
I even sent them photographs and information on sites that provided  terrible reports on the said Hotel

BEWARE of a DOUBLE JEOPARDY

We booked this in May as we were going to a show at the De La Mar Pavilion. When we arrived yesterday I could not believe that this ‘Hotel ’ is even listed on Trip Adviser or Booking.Com. There were undesirables loitering in the doorways and back of the hotel. The building was filthy and delapidated. Rubbish was thrown all over the ‘car patk’ A member of staff came out, she was untidy,  unkempt and most unhealpful.  There was no way that we were going to stay there. We managed to get a room in a lovely B & B who have had a number of other guests who just left this Hotel. When I subsequently read other reviews I realised what a lucky escape we’d had.  Do not go there.
