We booked a weekend away and picked this B&B, and were not disappointed.

Perfect accommodation, with everything we could need provided.  

The room was perfect for our family of 5, with 3 bunks for the kids. The beds were super comfortable and breakfast was superb. Lovely heated room in a quiet location.

Exceptional

We stayed here for an over night stay before going to Alton Towers in the morning and we cannot recommend this place enough. We received a warm, friendly welcome on arrival and our room (the family room) was very clean, warm and cosy with a nice shower/bathroom. We awoke to a freshly cooked English breakfast which was lovely and only had a short 15 minute drive to Alton Towers after making this place very convenient for people looking to visit the theme park. Would definitely stay here again!

A great stay!

I am adding to Margaret759's review (my travelling companion) in the light of David C's response as it is inaccurate. We called at Long Chimneys (approx 2pm we were having lunch in Ashbourne at 12.30!) as a courtesy to inform the owners we may be late checking in as we intended to go into Uttoxeter.  He told us our room was READY and we could leave our bags.The bedding on the 2ft 6in beds was not slightly damp but VERY damp.His explanation for the damp bedding does not excuse it. He was unacceptably unpleasant when he should have been apologising. Also to call the room we were shown 'De Luxe' is an absolute misnomer with or without damp bedding.

Although we'd booked a "deluxe" twin-bedded room, the room we were shown to couldn't have been more basic with two very narrow (2ft 6in wide) single beds and very little else to recommend it.  On checking, we found that the bedding was very damp and cold.  We pointed this out to the owner and he said that it was their policy to steam iron the bedding and that if we'd arrived two hours later at the normal check-in time it would have been dry.  We very much doubted this and said that we really couldn't sleep in damp beds, at which point the owner turned surprisingly nasty and held the front door open telling us to "get out" or he'd "escort us off the premises".  He had already taken the full amount from my credit card and said we would not be getting our money back.  We were very glad to leave even if it meant forfeiting the full cost of the accommodation.

On arrival we were greated by Colinda and immediately felt comfortable, we were shown to our rooms everything was explained and we were left to get settled. The room was lovely and cosy couldn’t ask for much more. The stay was made even more enjoyable by the fact that the staff engaged in conversation with you everyday and were always happy to give advice on how to arrive at places quicker and easier which was very helpful as we were not from the area. 

The stay was made even more special as it was my friends birthday and they went that extra mile and bought some confetti and decorated our table for our final morning. This just made the visit that little more enjoyable and special. 

Myself and my friend can’t thank you enough for the service and hospitality we received during our stay. If we return to Alton Towers we will defiantly stay again.
