My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at Norwood House over the New Year period. Ideal location, lovely room (room 7), free parking, quality breakfast, great value and lovely host.

We have stayed at many Ambleside Hotels and B&B’s over the years and this is right up there with the best. We hope to return there very soon.

My sister and I traveled to ambelside for our yearly trip. We chose Norwood house as it had parking. The owners were lovely and knew the area so well so we got a little less lost when on our walks. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and plenty to keep you going till lunchtime, they had good options for vegetarian (my sister and I are veggies). The room was lovely and the place was easy access to everywhere. I heartily recommend it we had a lovely time. Thank you Norwood House for looking after us. 

We have just returned from a short break at Norwood House one of the best B&B,s we have stayed in. We stayed in room 7 which is light and spacious with a large bathroom, comfy beds and pillows. It's on the top floor so maybe not for anyone with mobility issues but fine for us. Breakfast is good and the service excellent. The owners are so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Parking is a 2 minute walk away. 

My wife & I had such a nice weekend walking  Ambleside  & surrounding areas. 
Our weekend was enhanced further, by our stay at Norwood House. With clean & comfortable rooms, nice breakfasts. The  owner’s hospitality was second to none.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The room was spacious, clean and comfy. Although there was no breakfast available during our stay (we knew this when booking) there was a lovely café just a minute walk away which did great food. We will definitely be back!

I stayed three nights under the fabulously warm and friendly hosting of Keith and Wendy. A few days getaway, studying, running and hiking amongst the Lakeland beauty, leaving and returning daily to the snug, comfy bedroom, wonderfully prepared by Howie, with Keith's scrumptious breakfasts and Wendy's beautifully warm and informative hosting throughout.
Simply the Best and an absolute must for anyone who wants to truly enjoy the Lakeland walks and hospitality at its best

I stayed here on my recent trip to the lakes. The B&B is in great location of Ambleside very short walk from the buses and the local town. I was made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent had very wide choice for cereal breakfast was made fresh we great quality products. They where happy you have any style of cooked breakfast with extra top ups of tea and toast I was happy with what I had. Breakfast from 830 till 9 which is great as not up really early but early enough for good breakfast so can enjoy whole day exploring. The owners so very friendly and welcoming. My room was lovely had my own sink and toilet did share shower though. Bed was comfortable and sheets where very clean. Will definitely recommend to stay here when in Ambleside. 

Lovely place perfectly placed in the heart of Ambleside. Rooms were cosy with a great bath! We had a fab time and Wendy and Keith were great hosts and super friendly. Breakfast was spot on and set us up for the day. Definitely worth a stay.

Had one of the best times so far at this excellent guest house. Breakfast great and plenty of choice and the excellent service from Keith and Wendy.
Great value for money, give it a try.....you won't be disappointed.

Lovely warm and welcoming accommodation. Well kept and clean, hosts are extremely friendly and helpful, from always making the time to say hello, remembering what you have for breakfast and giving suggestions on things to do. Location is great for things to do in Ambleside and a short walk to Lake Windermere.

Warm & Welcoming

After a Xmas marred by cancelled gatherings and people self isolating we wanted a weekend away to see somewhere different, enjoy the countryside, and relax a little and Norwood House was the perfect base a stones throw from some of the most beautiful places to be in England. Right in the heart of Ambleside, Norwood is perfectly located and it’s clean,  comfortable, and welcoming. 

The owners are really friendly and attentive, the bed was soft and the room was warm (once we’d worked out the way the thermostat worked). 

Breakfast was lovely, really nice food, not greasy the way some fry ups can be and perfectly judged portions. Nice fresh coffee too.

Perfectly placed for a lakeside getaway

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Norwood house for 3 nights. We had a wonderful stay. The b&b was so charming, the room was very clean and cozy, the bed was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in!! The breakfast was lovely. The location is perfect, within walking distance of everything we needed. Wendy and Keith couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly, we felt right at home! Thank you so much for a lovely, unforgettable stay, we will certainly be back! Abby and Dale xxx

Amazing stay

Nice little bed and breakfast place in the small town of Ambleside. Took the family room which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was nice and it was in the middle of town which meant that it’s just walking distance to all the shopping, pubs, cinema and restaurants. Price is slightly on the higher side but maybe that was down to peak autumn season. Overall, a nice stay.

Comfortable stay in a nice location

Stayed for 2 nights, and couldn't fault the place. Wendy and Kieth are super friendly hosts (and make lovely breakfasts!). They seemed more than happy to accommodate people's needs. Nice comfortable rooms in a quiet area, so nice and peaceful.

Everything you may need is nearby in the town, and seemed to have plenty of walks too!
