The bar is well presented. A Clean and lovely place to meet. Friendl, welcoming owner/staff. Good service. However the hotel quarters need updating, which are due for an upgrade shortly. Would recommend.

Well presented

Pros : Nandos. Nice duvet, nice tv and decor in the front room 6. Somewhere to stay on Christmas eve.

Cons : 

No hot water!
We attempted to fill the bathtub with many boiled jugs (kettle on floor as short cable)
Finally got in the bath and it was still too cold.

Wifi didnt work in our room.

Long awkward phone call in freezing cold waiting outside on arrival. Owner 'Barry'? lied to us about wifi and hot water facilities in our room, even when we showed him that our devices couldn't connect. This caused a lot more upset than you can imagine.  

Hallways were very smelly - a mixture of wet paint and old damp. 

Bed too short for me (granted I am pretty tall but why would a bed need a footboard?) 

Noisy trams and traffic right outside the window. Thankfully it stopped for Christmas. We were lucky the bar downstairs was closed too!

The spoilt brat of an owner 'Barry" drives a Porsche Cayenne and reminded us of Jeremy Clarkson. He was worried about the review we'd leave and threw a tantrum on the street as we drove off in front of onlookers (very funny)

Current warning....if you book this hotel be prepared for a night of noise like no other. Seriously even the battle for middle earth isn't competing with the bar downstairs!

What a truly awful place to stay. The word cheap is often used in conjunction with cheerful and nasty, my stay here was definitely a taste of the latter.

Sure, at £45 per night (Booking.com) it's certainly a budget hotel but no heating, no hot water (I think it may have come on at circa 8), cobwebs on the ceiling,  frayed carpets, dirty shower, filthy old fashioned single pain windows and a kettle you have to place on the floor because the cable isn't long enough for it to sit safely on a table-top, don't go towards making this place a bargain find, they help make it an awful experience. Thank God the trams stop running at 1 in the morning!

Location is perfect. Staff where so friendly to the point Barry the owner went out if his way to take us to the wedding we was going too. I had been for food a few months ago and its so nice they mentioned they had a hotel so looked at it too book when i had a wedding to go too, i could not believe the price too the point it was to good to be true but it wasn't. If you are going to Altrincham for a overnight stay this place is great. 

Barry the perfect Gentleman 

I rang Barry the owner and explained we had a family emergency and I needed to stay close to Hale - I would like to point out that the cheapest hotel in Hale was £100 per night. He keep me a room even though I could not make a firm booking - I got a warm welcome and a super bear hug. He explained he didn't normally let the room but as it was an emergency he let me have it for a very reasonable price. The room was clean the linen was of a very good standard there was a patch of damp on the ceiling but I was fine with that considering the rate he charged me. Downstairs is a wine bar it serves snacks I don't think that they advertise they do meals - lots places to eat close by. The place is being done up and the roof will be fixed soon - come on it has been like the monsoon season in the UK - cut the guy some slack !!!!! People need to be realistic - some folks want to pay Premier Inn prices and get The Hilton !!!

Family emergency

On arrival hotel looks superb but once through the doors into the accommodation areas a shock awaits! The staircase to the rooms was tatty with torn carpeting, woodwork not very clean and unwelcoming decoration. Stairs not for the disabled as steep and narrow, but it is an old Victorian building. The rooms are shabby and in places pretty dirty, ours had stains on the wall, dirty woodwork, a hole in the wall and multiple small holes in the door. We were at the front of the hotel and the busy traffic wakes you up quite early, although my sister was situated at the rear of the building and was disturbed by constant metro trams and trains; double or triple glazing  badly needed! The room did have a fridge, though excessive in size for room as was the bin which was huge! Nicely folded towels on bed, but bathroom towels were on the floor as if discarded by a previous occupant.  On the good side, it is very close to excellent transport links; we purchased a £4.80 metro card and whizzed around  all zones of Manchester all day. The bar area of the hotel is lovely, very stylish, fresh and new with a nice outside decked seating area.

Barry was a great host. Going out of his way to make sure you had a good stay. Room could have been better. I asked for a double room and would have preferred a double bed to two singles. But bed was very comfy. And had a good sleep. Alot of building work going on which Barry did apologize for again and again. On the whole a good stay but could have been better.

Miss

I made a booking at this hotel and it stipulated payment on arrival. I was forced to cancel and I did so during the free cancellation period. They took payment from my account. When I made contact they took my bank details and agreed to refund which never happened. All subsequent phone calls and text messages were not answered. Eventually booking.com refunded me the money as even they could not make contact with the hotel. Be wise. Do not book to stay at this hotel. Wish I could give it lower score than 1.

I booked travel for my business partners and This was probably the worst place to stay.  It was unclean, mold in the shower, cockroaches in the room.  Absolutely disgusting, they should not even be allowed on booking.com
