Reached the venue and the rooms were dirty though the quickly cleaned.. more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness 
Oh the road to the place please ensure you have a 4*4 or really good tyres it is a tough ride..
Nonetheless the scenery is amazing 

Beautiful place but poor hygiene 

Great spot for a retreat but only if the walk ins are not the loud type( they have lots of those). Cleanliness is not a priority here. Hygiene is terrible. You have to insist on daily cleaning or it will not happen. If you are afraid of wasps and bees (like I am) big problem. The wasp houses on the porch are literally invisible to the cleaner. Zero effort to remove these. 

More effort towards daily maintenance is needed.

Food choices very limited but you can make do for short stays. Breakfast is especially uneventful.

Non residents routinely access the resident space and take over the park benches. The sign ‘no access for non residents’ should be implemented seriously.

Had a routine dance every night with mosquitoes because the mosquito net was not well fixed at the top.

Veronica, acting supervisor deserves a huge raise. She bends over backwards to make it work while the rest of the staff (save for the guard) put in minimal effort to do their routine jobs. 

The manager of this place needs to reign in on his staff. Veronica is probably one of the youngest staff members and they take advantage of her. She does her job and theirs! The hospitality I enjoyed was down to these two.

The scenery is really something else though.

The staff is nice, but the manager is leaving them and doesn't seem to care about the place obviously.

When I arrived, they didn't know I was coming, although I booked days in advance. The room is absolutely not sound proof, it has a mosquito raster instead of windows in some places. Which would be nice, if the place didn't pretend to be a nightclub with such loud music I couldn't even think of what I wanted to order.

The room has a cheap bar of shampoo as "amenities" , no bottles of drinkwater. A shower with cold water that is suppose to be "hot". I don't know why they have a menu, because you can only have for lunch "what they have in the house". And charge more than average what is listed on the menu for their only option that day.

The wifi is barely there, certainly not in all areas. Only the reception. If it is there it is extremely slow. So only go here if you expect to not be online.

I checked out early, because I am not comfortable here at all and even though I announced my departure 24h in advance, a refund was not given for the night I don't use. The receptionist called the manager and he simply said: "no". I feel sorry for the staff.

I was offered an upgrade, but because the room I booked wasn't available upon arrival I had already switched before. I am done here and I just want to leave.

Lovely, secluded hotel. And of course with my longed for beach and such tranquil waters as far as the eye can see. The woodlands to one side, and the well kept manicured grounds are a blessing to behold. My husband and I enjoyed this jewel and we hope to return again. Kind staff and Esperance, we cant forget, thank you for being so helpful.

1st Wedding anniversary

After having booked a room here, I showed up and was told that all rooms were booked and that I had to stay elsewhere.   I've read about their other "resort" (Katomi Kingdom) and had heard it was really terrible, so we declined to stay.  The "manager" didn't even apologize - just kept saying that I stay at the other place!!!!

Showed up and no rooms available (even though booked!)

Amazing place with beautiful landscape and views of lake Victoria! It was above and beyond my expectations. Our room was very big, equipped with everything we needed and had a beautiful lake view. The hotel staff was amazing too, especially Phiona and also Stuart and Wilson!  Definitely a great place for nature lovers.

Great stay at Garuga

I stayed at the Garuga Resort Beach Hotel with a friend in May 2018. It was an amazing stay. After 2 days in Kampala, we really wanted to spend some time in a quite place. We took an Uber from Kampala, and were amazed by the beautiful views when we arrived at the hotel. Everything looked very luxurious. Although the property is a bit far from the main road, we had everything we needed for some days of sun and relax. Besides, we had all meals included in our fare, so there was no need to leave the resort. The hotel was very empty, we really do not understand why. For us it did not matter, because this meant that we had a private pool. However, I really hope for the sake of the hotel, and because of how amazing this place is, that more tourists will get to explore this place. It is true what other reviewers write, that not everything from the menu in the restaurant was available, but it is completely understandable as there were almost no guests (a lot of food would have gone to waste if everything would be available!). Besides, the available options were very good, especially the fish curry, chapatti and the chicken burger. We chose to have room service for breakfast every day so that we could really enjoy our holidays and sleep long. The rooms are really nice with a spectacular view of Lake Victoria (absolutely above and beyond our expectations).  However, I would recommend the hotel to make some shelves in the bathroom, because we had nowhere to put our stuff in there. The hotel staff was outstanding! Stuart and Wilson were great; very friendly and helpful, and Phiona “Fi FI” was truly amazing and really did everything she could to make our stay unforgettable! We really miss you! 

I definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to relax for some days in a resort with green scenery, monkeys running around and beautiful views of Lake Victoria away from all the chaos!

Amazing stay!

It was a bit of rocky ride to the hotel but well worth it- almost safari like. However, when we arrived at the resort, it's secluded, peaceful, relaxing and clean with birds chirping around the compound and even some wild life (monkeys). We saw the New Year by the log fire on the beach- it was lovely- nice chalets and staff although the service was occasionally below par. Wifi was only available in the office but on the last night the manager gave us a complimentary connection to the chalet.
