Bwindi lodge is an exceptional place with top notch service start to finish.   The attention to detail in meals, room service and the extra effort to make your trekking experience amazing is worthwhile.   The rain forest and the gorilla experience exceeds any video when you are sitting with these amazing creatures!
Make sure to visit the Bwindi bar and the cooking class - you won’t be sorry!

Volcanoes Safari Bwindi Lodge:

The best stay we have ever had!  The lodge is absolutely stunning, with incredible views and beautiful rooms.  Suzan was such an amazing attendant, going above and beyond to make our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.  Her kind spirit added to the fantastic experience we had.  This is a perfectly central spot for gorilla trekking, as it is right outside the national park.  Francis, our driver and guide, was such a safe and knowledgeable driver; we loved our time with him.  We were so sad to leave this beautiful lodge and staff…I really hope to come back someday.

I can really say that this place is perfect, the attention we received from Fiona and Silver was incredibly surprising, they really are very kind people who do everything to make you feel at home, really an incredible service totally recommended.

Believe me ask for Silver when you come to the Lodge, he is the best butler!! I will miss him, he is one step in advance always 🙂

This was an unexpected and pleasant surprise in Bwindi Village. Very close to the park entrance (at least one of them). The rooms were very spacious, and the lodge itself was quite stunning. Staff were so nice and helpful. 100% recommend staying here if you plan to gorilla trek in the forest.

The Hotel Was The Best On We Stayed At In Africa. Well Run Great Food . Very Close To The Park Entrance. Our House Person Was Barbra. She Was The Best. Made Sure Anything We Could Ever Want Was Planned For .  Her Lovely Voice Singing As She Brought Us Coffee In The Morning Sounded Like An Angel. All The Staff Where On Point Greeting Us With A Smile Whenever We Came Or Went. We Liked The Dining Arrangement It  Gave Us The Opportunity To Talk To Other Travelers About There Day.

Bwindi Lodge, their staff, and the gorilla-trekking experience were life-changing and profound experiences for us.  We HIGHLY recommend staying here and definitely doing the gorilla trekking!

First, the lodge is incredibly peaceful and relaxing and even more beautiful than the pictures show.  It's well managed, the chef was excellent, and they provided gaiters, walking sticks, delicious packed lunches, boot cleaning, and numerous comfortable details in the large cottage.  Next, our butler, Sylver, constantly went above and beyond to provide us personalized service.  He arranged all our meals, greeted us each day when we returned with a signature cocktail, and once he discovered we liked certain drinks at breakfast and dinner, always made sure they were on hand and cold.  He fit a massage in for me at the lodge, which was among the best I've ever had, helped me with local vendor purchases, offered tasty treats at just the right times, and was a pleasure to visit with about Uganda.  Sylver even arranged a surprise celebration for our anniversary, including dancing and chanting with the whole staff, a decorated cake, flower arrangement with blooms he noted I liked, and even made sure the whole thing was recorded so we'd have the memory after we went home.  He's a special young man and was a joy to meet and get to know.

Last, we were so, so fortunate to have Francis as our guide for this trip!  He picked us up at the airport and during the drive to Bwindi demonstrated his extensive knowledge about the flora and fauna, culture, and people of the area.  He was enormously interesting to talk to, seemed to know everyone, and we found out much later that he's kind of the "Guide of guides" in the area.  Francis arranged our gorilla trekking experiences - we did two days - and how wonderful and worthwhile these were!  Let me say, we would recommend doing two days if you can.  We had very different experiences/gorilla families/hikes, both very rewarding, and it really enabled us to better take it all in.  Double the cost, but we found it entirely worth it.   We saw a three day old baby (yes three DAY old), the largest silver back in Uganda, and a wide variety of gorilla ages, watched them play up in the trees as well as walk through and then settle into a jungle area, and saw very different terrain, all thanks to Francis and his planning.  

While in Bwindi, we also hiked to the waterfalls, which although not significant were pretty.  We walked down the river walk from the lodge and encountered a large troop of baboons playing right on the trail.  And even sitting on the patio at the lodge (or on the cottage porch) watching the monkeys swing and play above us, with snacks and drinks provided by Sylver, was enjoyable.

Two last suggestions - 
First, check out the Bwindi Bar.  It's owned by the lodge and provides a worthwhile service for locals, and they have a killer drink.  Second, hire porters each day.  It's a minimal expense, and while you probably think you don't need them, they'll do so much more for you than you can imagine.  Not to mention, you'll be providing a job for someone that day.  They line up each day, are selected in order, and some make the trek to line up for work only to find they're not needed.  My husband had different porters each day, but I lucked out and had the same one named Viola  (you can't request them, so this was truly lucky), and she was sweet and enormously helpful.  Trust us on this - they're worth it.

Bwindi Lodge was a lovely and very memorable stay - and don't miss the trekking.  We highly recommend them both!

This was one of the best holidays I have ever had. It’s so rare to be able to say that every single individual of the staff, every meal we had and the ambience the location…. EXCEPTIONAL. I would be back here if I could.Fiona the manager, Charles the chef, Ritah our personal butler, Shallon with fantastic massages, Barbara with her amazing cocktails…the room and dining areas etc all done so wonderful. I could go on and on…

Bwindi Volcanoes Lodge is a must when visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the gorillas! The staff is warm and welcoming and completely takes care of you. Lillian was our butler for the duration of our stay and she is absolutely amazing!! She was there for all our needs and made us feel right at home. Niki was the manager on site when we visited and he is awesome! He is super fun and so helpful! The food was delicious with something on the menu for everyone. The rooms were huge and stunning! They had everything we needed and more. They had gators available for us to use for our gorilla trekking which was very helpful! After our trekking they took our hiking boots and cleaned them up beautifully for our travels the next day. All staff was friendly and more than willing to help. I highly recommend Volcanoes Lodge. We will be back!

The staff was very accomodating. The meals were well prepared and tasteful. The lodge cabins were well maintained and comfortable. I would definitely return there for another restful break.  Some of the views were awesome along with the sounds of the jungle nights.
