For a quiet environment with fresh air, nice food and affordable drink, this is a place to visit. I love the environment. It is a great get away place for aome quiet. An amazing well equipped gym but you got to know what your doing. Its a place to visit to get away from the city noise and pollution.

Truly a hidden treasure

I have thoroughly enjoyed both short and extended stays at Namugongo Hotel numerous times over the past five years.  I am from the U.S. but travel often to Uganda due to my academic and non-profit work. I enjoy the peaceful charm, good service, spacious and clean rooms, good restaurant and pub, exercise room, meeting spaces, free wireless internet, and good prices Namugongo offers.  The hotel is located in a growing neighborhood very close to Kampala, yet without the chaos or traffic one struggles with when staying in the center of Kampala.  In fact, I no longer stay anywhere else.  I enjoy the ambiance and the options to socialize with wonderful people or to spend time alone in comfortable rooms with lots of light, TVs, and good work spaces. An added plus is that the hotel is located next to two of the most important religious shrines in East Africa--The Ugandan Martyrs Shrine, which Pope Francis visited this year, and the Anglican Ugandan Martyrs Shrine.  Everything you might need to shop for is also available at nearby Quality Shopping Mall.  So, if you are a tourist, a writer, a religious pilgrim, a student, a business person, a non-profit volunteer, a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or an adventurer, Namugongo Hotel is the right place for you.  Like me, if you stay one time, you will come back!

Peaceful Retreat--Yet Very Close to Kampala!

The hotel has a great team of waiters and waitresses with excellent customer care services. They are always wearing a smile and ready to receive each and everyone that comes to the hotel. All orders are delivered in time. The hotel too has spacious  rooms with enough fresh air.The rooms have television sets and there is free wireless internet for all customers. The hotel has also a big conference room great for meetings and special functions.

I have booked stay at this place on booking.com, because they were offering accommodation and free pick up from the airport for genius members of booking.com and from the begining provided them with the flight information. Several days later, when I was already traveling and without good access to the internet, suddenly they informed that they will not provide the pick up from the aiport (which was even mentioned in my booking confirmation), which caused me a lot of stress on the airport, as while waiting my flight i had to do search on other options for transport (and accomdoation, as of course decided not to stay in the place that misinforms its customers like that).

I found The Hidden Treasure in Namugongo Hotel, which I wanted to share with you all. To achieve this, I will simply employ the simple tool of story telling we grew up with and recently rekindled by Julius Mucunguzi in his recently launched book that is sought after like hot air. The story goes:

Once upon a time, there was place in Uganda, that was an important politico-religious place within the historic kingdom of Uganda that gave birth to the name Uganda and its capital city, Kampala.  This place was called Namugongo. It was politically significant for serving as the Kabaka's execution headquarters for political dissidents as well as the religious place for cleansing following those executions. This place has since metamorphosed into different political aspects ever since. This metamorphosis was to begin with the martyrdom of pages that had turned into Christianity that was viewed as dissidence at the time. From that point on the place changed into the global place of religious significance. It became the pillar of the Christian Catholic and Anglican faith, given the bravery and sacrifice that the over 45 Christians exhibited to die to martyrdom for their religious beliefs. Muslims were also among the Martys. Hence, two Shrines, the Protestant Shrine and the Catholic Shrine with its great magnificent Basilica were erected for religious remembrances and tourism as important historic-religious sites. Every year Millions of people flock to these places for the religious tourism from all over the World. They play, seek intercession, take the holy Water at the site including the various religious symbolism associated with it. It is also the only place in Africa that has had Papal visits, the first one having been in 1969; and also attracted the visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It has also had numerous Presidents visiting and now is in advanced stages of consecrating President Julius Mwalimu Nyerere of Tanzania as a martyr for his great political works. 

To understand the whole story and more, experience the physical place and others, I found The Hidden Treasure in Namugongo Hotel, which I wanted to share with you all. Namugongo Hotel, is indeed the Hidden treasure it is. The descriptions I had seen on its Facebook page are exactly what I found. And what's more, I found it quiet, reasonably priced and affordable for any traveler, yet welcoming and charming. It is unbelievably private and secret; is directly opposite the Quality Shopping Village at Kyaliwajjala which Shopping easy and accessible. It is cool like the Switzerland of Africa which makes its extremely comfortable and comforting. The Children Park and Quality Shopping Village just adjacent to it. Banks, Telecom Services and sundry available. You cannot forget the experience. It is indeed The Hidden Treasure in Namugongo, which you should venture to explore yourselves with your loved ones, friends and relatives. I love it.
