Gorgeous modern hotel fitting in perfectly with gleaming, marble , monumented Ashgabat. Our group of 22 went of to their various room and afterwards we heard about the problems in their rooms.

We had a lovely room with a gorgeous city view, but the room temp was 89°F and we could not make the room control work. Call down to reception - - oops, phone not in order. So down 12 floors I traipsed to talk to them directly. Back to the room after dinner,(undrinkable wine), nothing has been done and now I discover there’s no hot water. Back to the front desk with the group interpreters. They couldn’t start work because somehow they missed scanning my passport. Sent 2 guys up who didn’t fix anything, somehow the hot water started working before they got there. Next day the water actually disappeared for a while. Half the electrical outlets in the room didn’t work.

Other people in the group had various combinations of problems. At this point it was funny. Was it indicative of the city: all the gorgeous marble buildings, but did things actually function?

Superficially beautiful and opulent, but many flaws in functioning

We came here after spending the previous night in a yurt at darvaza crater.
Our initial entrance to the hotel was via the laundry rooms/trade entrance as all the roads were closed off for rehersals for upcoming celebrations.
That having been said, the room was large, clean and comfortable as you would expect from a sofitel hotel
The staff were very pleasant and we had a snack in the lounge before we went to our rooms. Good value and very tasty
Would stay again if i ever returned to Ashgabat

Great after being in the desert

Our tour group stayed in this hotel.  The staff is very friendly and welcoming.  Rooms are large and comfortable.  At the time we stayed, most of the 299 rooms were not being occupied.  In order to shop in the gift stores it was necessary to ask the bellman to go to their other location and have someone come open up.  I asked for a map of the city.  There was only one.  Asking to be shown where the hotel was on the map, no one at the front desk could do it.

Oguzkent Hotel

I had read a review of this hotel in a number of well establshed travel journals, after which I had made a mental note not to reserve a room at the Oguzkent when in Ashgabat. 

To my dismay I was booked into the Oguzkent for 3 nights as part of a group tour. The hotel is magnificent in its opulence. The sweeping approach to the entrance, where hordes of hotel staff swooped upon our coach to unload our bags was impressive. After a high paced tour of Central Asia it was a heavenly to step into the super luxury of the Oguzkent.

The high quality suite was of a good size with a huge King Size bed, soft linen, sumptuous array of pillows, two seater sofa, large writing desk and a very big bathroom. Large white bath towels and robes, plentiful toiletries, large shower with several shower head options, large bath/spa and much more. Wi Fi was strong. Great outdoor pool

The room was serviced quickly everyday and the housekeeping staff were friendly and smiling. 

It took an eternity to get things done, My air conditioning did not work. It took 3 trips to reception to finally get it working. Room service was slow (two reminders). When the food did arrive, it was good - delicious and nourishing. 

An opulent establlshment over 10 floors that is perhaps only 5% occupied at any point in time. Where the prices are high, the rooms are luxurious, if something does not work you have to go to a great deal of effort to get the problem fixed, sorely lacking in character and atmosphere (like most of Ashgabat), food is good and prices at the bar are OK,,,,,,

It was above my expectations....but then again I had just returned from 3 days camping in the desert

OPULENCE....

We stayed at the Oguzkent Hotel as part of our tour. The rooms are large, luxurious, and comfortable. But some of our fellow travelers complained that some things did not work including ac, hot water, wifi, etc. These problems persisted for some over several days. The included breakfast is good, with one of the few eggs to order stations we found on our trip. But most of the food is very plain and unseasoned, and not up to the standards of a luxury hotel.  The hotel is not near shops or other places for tourists. Like most places in Ashgabat, the hotel was eerily empty of people.

Large luxury rooms - where some things don't work

This hotel is very impressive from the outside and beautiful inside. It also has a great location right in the center. The rooms are big and comfortable. There's white marble everywhere, but you'd expect nothing less in Ashgabat. But the best part of our experience there was the service. Our flight was early in the morning so we had to leave the hotel at 5:30 am. The manager of the restaurant offered to open the breakfast buffet for us (10 people) at 5 am (breakfast normally starts at 6:30 am). At 5 am she was there offering us a full buffet and serving us with a smile. I didn't get her name, but she deserves many thanks for her kindness.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic service

This hotel is part of the Sofitel group and certainly looks the part with a very impressive facade and an impressive lobby.
The rooms are well laid out, large and comfortable, with huge bathrooms which include a heated floor.
There is a good gym and an impressive indoor pool, they also have a good outdoor pool, however for some reason no one was allowed use it.
The wifi was good and there was a restaurant, you can also eat off an acceptable menu in the bar. The prices are very high compared to local restaurants but that is what you expect.
The downside of the hotel is that it is located in the new part of town near the Presidential Palace and there are not any shops, etc nearby, if you want these you need a hotel in the downtown area. In addition some of the features in the rooms are starting to look tired and will need urgent repair sooner rather than later.

its my so best experience. thanks so much all Oguzkent familyes  i was so relaxed  in your hotel so best swimming pool so best bar all drinks so good bed and breakfast best cultrally foods so great turkish bath  too much well

We were very surprised when our packaged tour included a hotel this beautiful, but very pleased.
Interior of hotel is absolutely beautiful.
Breakfast was good and the American styple pancakes were great.
Our only problem was the room lights.
First it was hard to figure out what controlled what and then in the middle of both the second and third nights, ALL of the lights turned on, waking us up.
They also occasionally turned off in the bathroom for no apparent reason.  Somewhat disconcerting while taking a shower.
Oh, and the towel heater looked nice but did not work.
And the shower went all over the bathroom floor.
Lights and shower aside, I would stay there again.
