Tasar Royal Hotel

I stayed at this hotel as part of a 2 centre holiday around Lake Van. The hotel is ideally located near the town centre, on the main road from Van. I was travelling from Van on the bus; the bus driver will drop you off outside the hotel. I had decent sized room with tea/coffee making facilities. The room was air conditioned. I asked for a room at the back of the hotel which they gave me; in fact I had a great view of the lake! The restaurant is on the top floor with panoramic views of the lake and Nemrut mountain. Excellent choice at breakfast. The meal at night was also very good. What made it for me personally was the welcome I received. Everybody was very friendly and eager to help. The hospitality was outstanding....but this is very typical of what a visitor can expect in this part of Turkey. if you are thinking of visiting this side of Lake Van, Tatvan and this hotel are an ideal base as you can get buses quite easily to places such as Bitlis, Ahlat and Adilcevaz. I also went trekking around Nemrut Mountain. If you want to go up there, don't bother with a taxi there, one of the staff from the hotel will take there and back for a very reasonable rate. As the sun is going down, I do recommend a walk along the promenade by the lake!
