Iksirci Baba Hotel

Travelling with kids this time, we booked the Iksirci baba based on the pics of the grounds. Hotels with this kind of space are very much at a premium in the area, so finding one with such an open, grassed area for the kids to run around, and for us to kick back on the bean bags and catch the much needed mountain breeze was a real bonus. The pool area is immaculately maintained, with safe grooved tiling, rather than the slippery marble, with plenty of sunbeds and canopies available for catching the rays or having a snooze. The rooms are newly refurbished, with effective air con included in the room price. We had two triple rooms with garden view. Four are available with a small grassed garden, which we were fortunate to have. Each had enough closet and drawer space and there was always a copious amount of hot water on tap. Beds were comfy, if as always, a little firm, the bonus being that the single bed was a proper divan, rather than of the fold up variety. A fridge with mini bar and a decent hair dryer are also supplied in every room. The staff really couldn't have done more to make our stay any more relaxing. From the ladies in reception, the wonderful chef ziggi. Ali and Celal, whom act more as concierges than bar staff, all were attentive and helpful throughout. The food is simply Turkish, and of a very high standard, or typically English. Everything available from a simple beans on toast, menemem, full English, to an event banquet. We were hard pressed to find anything to equal the price and quality in town. The bar prices likewise are cheaper or equal to anything in the area. The 10 tl Bomonti was much appreciated !. As Europeans, we were in the minority, but had a fantastic time mixing with the Turkish guests, which only added to the charm. The kids spent hours in the pool sharing swimming tips with other children of every nationality, and never once felt not included, nor ran out of room. Position wise, it's a gentle 200 yards downhill stroll to the Oludeniz road to catch a dolmus to the beach, or an easy 10 minutes to Hisaronu. There is a button outside on the hotel wall to hail a cab if required, which we found more and more useful, as the weather hit 40+ degrees. Never had to wait more than five minutes, and even travelling as six people together, never payed more than 12 tl to hisaronu or 20 tl to Oludeniz. It worked out cheaper than the dolmus ultimately. We have been travelling to the area for 20+ years and in summary, haven't come across a better hotel, particarly on this years tight budget. Reflect on the price if and when you book..you won't be disappointed.
