My family and I were staying at the JW before leaving on a cruise. The concierge, Bugra, suggested we take a tour with a guide instead of walking by ourselves since we were not staying for very long. Bugra went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible. As for the guide, Gürcan, we can not say enough how wonderful he made our trip to Istanbul. We met in the morning. His English was perfect and his background in archaeology made his stories very interesting. Again, since our trip was not long, he decided to show us the most important sights to see. Since he is a licensed guide, we were able to bypass the wait to see most of these sights. The best was when he took us shopping. He took us to the most reputable stores. He was very knowledgeable on how maneuver his way around the bazaar. Having a native with you really makes the experience so much more enjoyable. I cannot stress enough how being with someone that knows the ins and outs of Istanbul makes the visit so much more pleasant. Gürcan is definitely someone you want to be with for this experience.
