Iyon Pansiyon

This was my second stay at Iyon Pension. I am lured here like as if by the Sirenes in the Aegean. This time I reserved the large rooms upstairs so that I could see the harbor in the morning. Eight rooms are downstairs around a lovely courtyard, two upstairs. Ummet carried my bags upstairs, the taxi driver carried them down on my trip to Izmir’s airport. This is just a lovely place to spend time. Close to the harbor, the beach, and to restaurants and markets. It is an historic old stone building in a town with lovely, walkable streets and little shops. Breakfast is from 9AM to 11AM and is classic Mediterranean fare; olives, tomatoes, cucumber, boiled eggs, walnuts, cheeses, bread, parsley and green peppers. Nescafé, cay, hot water, juices and, of course, honey round out the spread. I can not wait to return.
