Memisoglu Konak Hotel

We stayed at the Memisoglu Konak Hotel the last week of August, and it was a beautiful time to visit wonderful Ayder! It reminded me a little bit of the Smoky Mountain Region in the U.S. At this hotel in Ayder, each room was very simple, and the pine wood walls made the hotel blend well with its surroundings. We arrived as a group of 13 ladies and 5 children, and they quickly accomodated us to suit the numbers. There were some rooms that were 1-bed, 2-bed, or 3-bed. The service was good, and in the evening the man who worked the desk played his "bagpipe" for us. It's a local instrument made out of a goat hide, and as he played it many Turks danced around him on the front porch. This added to the ambiance of the foggy mountains. In the morning, we had a nice, Turkish breakfast served buffet style with a beautiful view of the mountains. We ate on the large porch of the hotel and enjoyed the view as we sipped our tea. The one downside to the room was the small bathroom. There was no shower stall. The shower head hung on the wall, and with the size of the bathroom, the toilet, sink, and possible the toilet paper wwas soaking wet by the time we finished our shower. So as long as you don't mind a small bathroom, this is a great place to stay.
