We stayed for three non-consecutive nights and stored our bags with Kardelen for another two during a week-long hiking holiday around the Kaçkar mountains. I honestly don't know what more we could have asked for: the bungalow cabins are small but pleasant, with plenty of hot water and comfortable beds; the food is excellent, with breakfast an extensive Turkish-style spread of cheeses, salads and eggs; and Nadir Demirci and his family are some of the most courteous people you can meet in an area already renowned for its hospitality. Nadir is also an excellent local guide and his valuable advice ensured we trekked safely and saw the magnificent sights of the local mountains. What a treat. We'll definitely be back.

Made the Kaçkar mountains totally worthwhile

Magical woods 

I heartily agree with the previous 2 reviews. Nadir and his family run an environmentally friendly business far enough up the road from all the other tourist focused hotels and restaurants. The food I goo and wholesome. The main restaurant has a great community atmosphere. Nasir's knowledge about the area and his love of the land is impressive and, yes, his laugh is infectious. The cabins are simple pine with hot water and heating and comfortable beds. 

Perfect mountain holiday location.

Further to my last review I just wanted to clarify that Kardelen Bungalows are actuallly located within the small village of Ayder but are part of the Camlihemsin region.  They are also located within the Kackar mountainous area.  The address given for them above may have one confused with its mention of Camlihemsin instead of Ayder itself.

I was fortunate to stay in Kardelen, initially booked for 1 night but extending my stay to 2 in May 2012 (this property has only been listed in October 2012) and it has to be one of my most memorable experiences I had in Turkey.

All year round stunning natural mountainous beauty surrounds this national park/region and while I was there it was still chilly, the air was fresh and there was still slowly melting snow.

My gorgeous Swiss styled bungalow with double and single bed inside had its own bathroom and heating that made it cosily warm.  The bed was extremely comfortable and at night I went to sleep to only the sound of rushing mountain water!

It’s a family run business with Nadir (who speaks very good English, has a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh) his wife and their two young children.  Absolutely delicious home cooked food is served in the main house on the property and is cooked by Nadir’s wife. The room was welcomingly cosy and warm.  Alcohol was also available for sale and our evening meals went down well with our beers (bira).

Nadir runs mountainous hikes from time to time so do ask him about that option if it is of interest to you.  I was told that in the summer accommodation fills up and is heavily booked so do book ahead.  In fact I highly recommend you doing this any part of the year.  Camping is also an available option.
