Ege Han Otel

Having stayed in the centre of Bozcaada (i.e. the harbour area) four times, this was the first time we decided to try somewhere just a few minutes out. It was definitely worth it. Ege Han is a lovely little place. The room wasn't huge, but there is enough space for a couple, and it was spotlessly clean and decorated in a simple but pretty style. The bed was extremely comfortable, there was a small wardrobe, good forceful shower, airconditioning, TV and small fridge (but bigger than a minibar fridge). The food at breakfast was all very fresh and tasty - classic Turkish breakfast, done very well, with homemade jams and without skimping on the quality like a lot of hotels do - and it was nice to sit in the garden outside and eat. The owners were also always around and asked if everything was okay, if we needed anything etc. My experience unfortunately in Bozcaada has been the opposite - hotels who know they can fill their rooms really easily at high season so don't try to please their customers. Ege Han was a refreshing change! It was also good value for money - one night cost us 134TL when other hotels of not such good quality in the harbour area were charging a minimum of 200TL per night. I would say you do need your own car or bike, but with transport you can get to the hotel from the harbour in five minutes. And because it's surrounded by fields, you get a good night's sleep. Recommended!
