Tropicana Beach Hotel

Just returned from Tropicana! Had a lovely weeks stay! Got a bargain with jet2, costing under £270 for a week! Reviews are excellent and I see why. Staff are great, really friendly and welcoming. We emailed before we arrived with some room requests (sea/pool view etc) they advised when we arrived, the room type we booked, didnt have the seaview available, but if we’d change room types they had one waiting for us. They let us see the room before we had to decide. Really appreciate the efforts they went to, to ensure happy customers! Rooms cleaned daily too. Lovely pool and beach area. The hotel, for us, was situated perfectly, its about a 10 minute walk in to the centre of Gumbet, so while Gumbet is pretty lively this is right on the outskirts. Theres Restaurants etc on the way too. There’s a bus stop outside where the bus takes you to bodrum for about 60p each way. Every 10-15 mins. The reception exchanges money for you too, which is handy, and roughly the same rates as the big money shops. We found turkey this year to be a lot more expensive than previous times. And for a change the shops preferred Lira. We used the revolut card most places and all accepted. This hotel is definitely a good base. It’s clean, friendly and we got it on a good deal. It is a bit basic, but I expect that in Turkey and as long as its clean i dont mind basic. Our room was great, with a double bed, pool and sea view. The room had a fridge and kettle too, and one of the most powerful showers I’ve had on holiday! Brilliant. This room also had a safe, but there are numerous safes in reception too. Aircon you pay extra for. Free wifi in hotel areas and rooms, which worked well the full week we were there. The only two small bits of feedback i have (which didnt spoil the holiday, but are worth pointing out)… the room we were in needs better curtains, they dont fit over the balcony door and windows properly, so there’s big gaps, meaning light beams in your room from sunrise! The pool bar is pretty extortionate, we had a drink there when we arrived a cider and a Guinness and it cost us £18 (obvs local beers were cheaper, we’d just arrived and didnt really look at currencies/costs till later on haha) and the bar stays open playing pretty loud music (or Karaoke) till 2am, so ear plugs are recommended! If the pool bar had been more competitively priced, we’d have used it more. I’d definitely stay here again, and we met people who have been frequent visitors for years! Excellent holiday. Would recommend staying here.
