Booked a private room with shared bathroom and on arrival the host kindly upgraded us to a private room with a bathroom! Good location near one of the sights. Rooms are nicely furnished.   served a nice breakfast in the courtyard. 

A nice place

We spent one night at this place. It is simply decorated, fairly clean, cheaper than equivalent options in the same neighborhood. We had a problem with hot water which was solved in a short time. The owners are quiet welcoming as well.

Simple, central, all you need!

We stayed for 3 nights at their newer, more up-market guesthouse 5 minutes walk from the original place. Very nice, quiet, large room, very clean property. The breakfast was excellent and Fatma, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, what can't be said about her husband, who was rather grumpy, almost rude. Perhaps he is getting a bit jaded...

Great B&B

Not easy to find this pension. It is central, in a very small street near the church-mosque. But the owner , very helpful person, came to us and show us the way.
Room was very simple. We didn't have breakfast because they serve it from 8 am only (we left 7,40).

very simple accommodation

As we walked to the pension from the bus station, we weren't sure what the place would be like.  But from the time that Fatma welcomed us in her garden and served us drinks, we were reassured.  We stayed in the new pension down the street a ways, and being May, we were the only ones there.  We loved it!  The room was spacious, with on-suite bathroom and tastefully furnished and decorated with antiques and art.  I loved the big tree beam running through the ceiling of our room.  The fridge was stocked with water and soda and we were able to do washing there as well.  Hanging out the laundry was a neat experience since the lines are out off a balcony near the roof...what a view over the town and down to the sea!  
We appreciated the comfortable beds and pillows and when I remarked to Fatma about how much I liked her linens, she was kind enough to take me shopping with herself later that morning to see what was available.  
Breakfast was one of the best we had in Turkey with quite a spread, served on the terrace above her home overlooking the sea.  We were quite taken with their hospitality and wished we could have stayed longer! 
If you want to enjoy Ayvalik, this is the nicest place to stay...close to the historic section, the waterfront restaurants and shops and near the local markets and shops as well.  It's a great location for walking to sites.  
Our next visit to Turkey will definitely include a stay at Sato again!
