Canoe Bay Beach Resort

Recommended by my freind Mike from Mike's guest house, we packed a picnic and made our way only a few mins drive from Crown point. It is a very calm bay with beautiful well kept and landscaped surroundings. You can spend the day peacefully and use their facilities bar and lounge. Haven't over nighted as yet though!

Canoe Bay beautiful beach

After a 4 day/5night stay at the hotel this is my review:
· Nice beach, nice ocean view
· Large grounds
· Overall, a facility with much potential and a perfect location.
· AC, television and WiFi access in the rooms
· No lighting on the compound at night, so you need a flashlight to go from one building to the next or to get to the pool which is also in darkness.
· No security.
· If you're a light sleeper, beware that there's illegal car racing on the lonely access road near the hotel every night which you'll be hearing once the sun sets.
· The gazebo is the only thing that seems to be up-to-mark because it's probably new (and hence is featured in all the hotel's photos marketing the facility). Be careful though, because once it rains the gazebo's tiles are dangerously slippery. Everywhere else is in need of renovation.
· Roaches and other insects share your room with you. If you venture onto the grounds at night, though, insect repellent is a must-have because there's a large pond-like body of stagnant water surrounded by bushes right in front of the rooms that is most likely the source of the mosquitoes.
· Stained bed linen.
· Nothing for us to clean for ourselves and house keeping didn't come into the room during the entire stay. We had to put the garbage outside the room and that's how it got cleared.
· One housekeeper (Elderly lady with a Jamaican accent- I believe her name is Marie?) was observed on more than one occasion shouting at guests. In one confrontation she was observed causing quite the scene, drawing the attention of other guests during the standoff as she quarrelled with a couple (stunned and not responding in kind) in front of their toddlers. I heard her demanding to be paid $300 immediately. I saw on Trip Advisor that the hotel is known for the staff's rude handling of guests, no wonder! Worst of all, it turns out the housekeeper was mistaken about the booking arrangements...since she obviously didn't take the bookings.
· Ensure that you have a vehicle since it's a secluded location that you cannot travel or walk to and from to access anything that you'll need.

With much improvement, this hotel can be a true gem.

From Roaches to Rude Staff

We have just had a 3 night stay at Canoe Bay. Having had a day trip to the bay a few times before, we decided to try their overnight accommodation for the first time. (Note: you need a rental car or taxi service when staying here as there is no food/drink on site or within easy walking distance.) Like a previous reviewer said, the place has GREAT POTENTIAL.
THE GOOD: The grounds and pool were immaculate. (The kids remained under close supervision in the pool as it is quite deep given its size.) The shallow water in the bay and the large greens were great for the children.  We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which sleeps 7. It had a gorgeous view of the bay and grounds. The size of the apartment was ample and the fridge was very clean.
THE SO SO:The rest of the apartment was reasonably clean, if a bit dated and dark. The taps in the shower and the porch chairs needed better cleaning. The kitchen offered place settings only for 4. The grounds staff were friendly but the office staff were not particularly welcoming. 
THE UGLY: The mattress in the larger bedroom was very lumpy and did not have a mattress protector. The linen on all the beds was stained. The pillows were yellow. The air conditioners in both bedrooms stopped working on the second night. We reported this but no-one came to fix it so it was very hard to sleep on night 3.

Fab days, rubbish nights

The short version: I stayed in a king size bedroom(cockrico I think it was called). Ants were found literally everywhere. In the bed, the shower, sink... everywhere. The cleanliness of the sheets was questionable. When the staff were informed about the ants in the bed, they sprayed insecticide in the room and called that a fix. No changing linens.

Worst resort experience I've ever had.

Never again. From frogs in front the door, lizards and a cockroach in the room. An air condition unit that works when it feels. Stained mattress and the sheets can do with being replaced. 3 English channels on the tv. As with previous comments if they invest in this place it will be nice. As of right now I will not recommend anyone waste their money and come here. I am up at 2.35am posting this because I am warm (air condition not functioning properly) and looking to see if anymore insects will surprise me (just killed the cockroach and the lizard somewhere on the bed between the sheets).

My honest opinion on this place.

This place is the worst. There were cockroaches, frogs and dirty sheets. If you like to be in the action then here is not for you. This place is far away from civilization. DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY.
