Rooms very clean, staff pleasant. The star of the show is the food at the restaurant… simple but very well done. Not a bad experience. Very safe and rustic feeling . The drive to get there is long but lovely, roads pretty good by Trini standard.

Good bang for your buck

We had a great weekend at Le Grande Almandier. The location is hard to beat for seeing the turtles. The beach was fairly calm during our visit so we were able to bathe and enjoyed it. The river was flowing and clean so my toddler enjoyed it. We were very pleased with the meals served at the restaurant, their soups were amazing. Most notable is the amazing service we received from Cherryann, Brendon, and Georgiana, from check-in to meal service and to just being so kind to us. They are truly invaluable and made the experience a very pleasant one. We will be back!

We loved it! Great place

We has a family room which was a fantastic size, beds were comfy, everything was clean, couldn’t have asked for more. The experience of watching the turtles come up on the beach to lay their eggs was just amazing, a memory I will treasure. 

The food for both dinner and breakfast was excellent, however I would advise you to allow a lot of time for your meals. Food is tasty but good lord we waited so long for it. Breakfast took over 2 hours!!! The servers were very pleasant and smiling constantly and there was tea to make as much of as you wanted but the coffee had to be ordered. Five at our table wanted coffee but only 1 pot came out, we explained how many needed coffee and another pot came a good 10 minutes later. We really needed one pot per person but this never materialised. Also, the bread it seemed,  they were baking one loaf at a time! There were 8 of us and a basket of bread would come with 6 slices in it, we would ask for more, wait a good half hour and another 6 slices would come. At the end it was comical to be honest. 

Lovely experience, very happy with our stay here just allow loads of time to get your meals.

Our arrival was after 8pm on Friday for a weekend stay. There was a nice lady at the front desk waiting for us to complete the check-in for the day. the Hotel felt empty, but I was assured that all rooms were occupied. I got a beach-view room.  Customer Service was very good overall. Staff was extremely friendly and try to accommodate most of my requests.  

Room was OK, it looked clean and organized. It is a extremely tiny space, barely two people can fit. The room was definitely outdated  and crying for a renovation. The bathroom also screams for a renovation. However, the bed was comfy and I had a good sleep, specially because the AC Unit worked well (no complaints in this area). 

The hotel is beach-front, but you cannot find a stand pipe or outdoor shower to rinse the salt water or sand after you have taken a swim in the ocean. The entrance to the beach from the hotel should be more inviting, it is a small gate facing some fisherman's shack. The Main entrance can be also used to go the beach. Sadly, garbage litters the entrance to the beach (which is next to the hotel's main entrance). I know the hotel doesn't own this path, but I would encourage this hotel and the other surrounding hotels to come together and beautify this piece, as it greatly impacts their customers experience. 

Breakfast was included in the price. Overall it was a good breakfast, no much variety, but choices were tasty. Service was great, but food took close to 25 minutes to come to the table. There was unlimited coffee !!..    For dinner, choices were a bit more sophisticated, but also was the price. There was fish and seafood, but I had a beef burger, that was surprisingly good. 

Overall, experience was great. I had a terrific weekend. Do not expect a 5-star hotel. It is more a rustic stay, with some amenities and AC Unit in the room.

Excellent friendly service. Sherry Ann and Georgiana (mom's name) are super sweet. The children loved Sherry Ann. Clean Rooms just 5 star everything. The food is beyond excellent. Would definitely be returning next season.  🌟🌟🌟 🌟 🌟 .

Great family trip experience

Our family had been planning to visit Grande Riviere for Turtle watching for some time now, which was postponed due to the pandemic. We finally decided to venture last weekend and stayed at the Le Grand Almandier. What an excellent choice. It's the doorstep to turtle watching bust most of all the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. Kudos especially to Ms Sheery-Ann and Brenden. Our family of seven enjoyed every minute of the serenity and FOOD. 
OMG, the dinner and breakfast were excellent. We did not have lunch as the breakfast filled us all. The portions, variety and presentation were spot-on.

Excellent Service & Hospitality

If ever I am in Grand Riviere again this place is DEFINITELY where I'll be stopping by to have lunch or dinner!!

I had both lunch and dinner here and the service was prompt, courteous and their food is definitely worth it. Very well seasoned and cooked. You can tell that the chef takes pride in his/her meals and it's evident in the taste.

To see truly wondrous sights, you need to have a sense of adventure and be willing to venture off the beaten track, a euphemism that best describes the arduous journey one must take along the long, winding, pothole ridden road to Grande Riviere, one of the more remote sections of the island. The attraction? Being able to see leatherback turtles lumber out of the churning waters of the north coast at night and drag themselves onto the beach where they proceed to dig deep holes in which they lay up to 100 eggs at a time in under 20 mins, after which they cover their tracks and lumber back down the steep incline into the safety of the ocean. And there is no better place to stay while you witness this truly amazing sight than Le Grande Almandier. There are only a handful of hotels on this beach, all locally owned and on a world ranking, would not rate much above a two- or three-star ranking. But when it comes to local hospitality and quality of food, I would say that Le Grande Almandier ranks right up there in terms of local cuisine and hospitality. A big shout out to Sherry-Ann, who kept us entertained with local lore and news, while plying us with fully loaded drinks and some of the best meals we had on our holiday, including a truly memorable breakfast of local foods. Rooms though small, were clean, had balconies looking onto the beach and offered a warm welcome by having the bed strewn with magenta bougainvillea flowers and a welcome sign spelled out with palm leaves.  Would recommend two nights to enjoy the cuisine, explore the area through local tours and to rest up after the arduous 3 hour minimum drive, depending on traffic and point of origin.

Wendy, the proprietor, was great as well as everyone! Goergianne, Cherrie-Anne- so wonderful. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy. And watching the Leatherback turtles nest was amazing. It was a very safe and secluded space. And the food was perfectly amazing, even for someone as particular as me. I highly recommend for those wanting to experience the Trinidad island culture and hospitality.

This is a beach front hotel and so it should have showers/ pipes to rinse when you enter the compound. Electricity went for half the night and there were no generators here and the place was pitch black and we had to navigate over sixteen steps from the upstairs bedrooms to the main living area in the dark to get a cool drink as the place was very hot with no ac and we were sweating and could not sleep for that half night. The building opposite us had a very loud generator which also kept us up. It was like torture. The dark and sweat dripping from me as I tossed on the bed to the constant loud drumming of the nearby generator. I was very tired the next day. Cherry offered us breakfast for the trouble. There are no facilities for the disabled. The road to walk out to the beach stinks and it is highly offensive and is mossy and has piles of rubbish on the side. There is a river next to the beach that has fishing boats. there is a local minimart on the main road. There is another hotel opposite. Our hotel offers breakfast lunch and dinner. The anomaly is that if you book a room only at about 700tt it is less than half the price of the condo and it comes with breakfast but if you take the condo which has two room - which is more than twice the price of the rooms -1600 tt you do not get breakfast because they say it has a kitchenette 😫I guess to make your own breakfast.
