Casa Minha Backpackers

This really is the most basic of accommodation. It has everything you need and nothing more at a fair price for Dili. We paid $20USD for a double room with aircon. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable enough and the air con worked well. The shared bathrooms were functional. Not particularly pleasant but they did the job. There were a few cockroaches around but that is hard to help in a city like Dili. The family who run the place as friendly and helpful and have a minimart attached to the guesthouse. It is certainly not luxury but it is right for the price. 

Basic but functional

The accomodation is just fineand the pressure  of the water on the showers is almost none but the staff is super friendly and usefull. They speak very good english and run a mini market that has a lot of things that you might need.

Nice and cheap place to stay.

Pros: Cheapest place I could find. Centrally located. The owners are very nice, speak good English and can help you find what you need. Breakfast is included (bread and omelet). They also run a convenience shop where you can buy water and other goods for reasonable prices. 

Cons: We booked a double room, but we were given dorm beds on arrival which weren't very confortable. The air-con didn't work that well and the lights went out twice in the middle of the night. The room became terribly hot. There are no windows and no bug nets on the beds, so we just endured it. The shower is basic and only cold water.

Cheapest place in Dili

I came back to Timor and ran into a brick wall.
Dili Central Backpackers was booked out with no beds available for three days.
I asked mana Kymn where else I could stay.
She told me about Casa Minha  coz it suited my budget.
What a shock compared to Mana Kymns place.
The dorms were stuffy and noisey fans that did little to cool us down.
It also was a bit smelly.
The owner and his family were nice but not much else.
I missed the space at the Central Backpackers where all the people hanged out and had fun.
Next time I come back to Timor I definitely will not forget to book ahead with Mana Kymns
backpackers place.



A sad alternative

The place is owned by a very friendly and helpful family. It is basic but it is just what you need in dili. We also hired a Scooter to get around. We used it as our hub in between our trips around timor leste. Thanks
