Located on the road that runs adjacent to the beach, from the outside the hotel looks like a small apartment building, with narrow balconies lining the façade. Very unimpressive, to be honest. Furthermore, it's further inland and away from the coast (but within walking distance, 2 minutes max) , with the sea being blocked by the beach-front resort opposite. It didn't at all seem like a good deal. Except that it was. The hotel's defects were compensated by rooms that are beautifully and colourfully done, in direct contrast to the bland, city-like minimalism that has recently become the vogue; perfect for one to languish in on afternoons where the heat just makes it impossible to venture out. Also, each room comes with a simple DVD player, quality amenities, as well as free wi-fi coverage. For getting around a bunch of aged bicycles are provided free of charge by the hotel. Unfortunately for us the hotel had not yet been finished when we checked in, with the planned swimming pool and restaurant still being constructed. Instead, we had our breakfasts at Ali Baba's sister resort Foresta, which is practically right next door. As the hotel had only just opened it was evidently understaffed, but thankfully the low number of guests made this shortage unnoticeable. Pranburi is known for the plethora of posh resorts that line its main coastal road. With this in mind, price-wise, Ali Baba is a definitely something of a bargain, especially if you consider the quality and vibe of the rooms, as well as the place's newness. For those wishing to enjoy the tranquillity of Pranburi but without having to splurge, then this is a place you should check out.
