We needed to spend a night in the historical centre of Petchaburi and Agoda showed the only other guesthouse nearby as “sold out.” 

The fan room we were given was very dark and dingy, although it appeared to be clean, and the toilet and showers were down a steep staircase. Although it would have been OK, I guess, for just one night, it was far below our usual minimum standard. 

We decided to try the other nearby guesthouse, and they offered us a very nice bright room with ensuite bathroom and air conditioning for not much more money — even though the property showed as “sold out” on Agoda. We decided to take that room and blow off jj home despite losing the few baht we had prepaid that were not refundable.

I want to emphasize that the young manager who checked us in and showed us to our room was very friendly and personable. The fault was not his, but rather the quality of the room.

Very basic — below our standard

A suitable place for travellers of any age on a budget. NOT a backpacker gettoe.  1.3 klicks from the mountain. Cool music in the shared area/restaurant near to a couple of bars and retaurants. Simple menu. A bit too family oriented for me but ...a decent option especially during the festival season when the down town hotels would be unbearable.  This guest house might benefit from signage reminding guests to be quiet...just a thought. Helpful staff and management but need to up their game with more modern Tv's. Good AC and Fan.

Cheap place - helpful knowledgeable staff - laid back

Friendly owners , excellent English, very helpful and informative. Great location near markets and night markets. Nice room, great value accommodation. At street level a friendly coffee shop / bar at night.

Very Friendly

We were welcom with open arms and were made to feel at home. The rooms are basic but the service is kind and friendly. We stayed for five nights and were sad to leave, I highly recommend this city and JJ homes.

Excellent

We stayed here for two nights. The place is very well-located, across the street from a great restaurant, close by to the night market (highly recommended!), and a nice bike-ride away from the main sites (they rent bicycles). The room was pleasant, with a nice balcony. It did not overlook the street and still was a bit noisy, but not too bad and we had good sleeps. The owners are very helpful and friendly (a mixed Thai - American couple).

A very nice place to stay in Phetchaburi.

Stayed 1 nt at JJ's on our way to Hua Hin.  Did not make any booking upfront.  Very friendly welcome by the owners Paddy & Aeng.  I understood they had "backpackers" accomodation with shared facilities.   We took a room with balcony-street view on the 1st floor (Thai = 2nd floor).  Small rooms who apparently have been recently (and partly) refurbished.  Airco, good bed, ceiling-fan, TV, Wifi,clean bathroom.  Fridge in a common area just outside the rooms.  Centrally located. We paid 500THB/1 nt. which is definitely value for money !  Restaurants within walking distance.   For those who dare ...recommend a chinese street-food stall, just across the bridge, 2nd soi on the right (opposite Kasikorn bank).  Looks very scruffy, but excellent food !!


Value for what you pay.

We spent several nights actually sleeping badly because we were on the side of the road. Otherwise there's a place where a lot of people come to it to chat around a beer.

Noisy but friendly

This hotel is convenient, clean and well situated in the centre (not far from the train station) but it's a bad mattress and no sheets.

The owners are very nice and the reception is warm, the rooms are clean and with windows and fan, the toilets are clean. The guesthouse is also a small bar, which allows you to meet many locals but also travelers, it is very nice! It is located in the city center, close to the markets, and rents bicycles which is convenient to get around at a lower cost. In short, I recommend!

A very pleasant step

Basically, the hotel was OK, considering the price range. The location was very good, 10 minutes' walk to Wat, 20 minutes' walk to Historical Park and to the train station. The owner is always available is very friendly, prepares breakfast, helps with day planning. If necessary, she also rents motorbikes and bicycles. Accommodation is quite clean, but our room was very noisy from about 7:00 in the morning and the beds are very, very hard, we slept very badly in it.
