27 reviewsKnowing that I might arrive late from Chiangmai since I was taking the long-distance bus, I had notified the hostel via agoda prior to my stay. Received a prompt reply from the hostel that they would take note of this. As expected, the bus pulled into Mochit Terminal an hour late, and by the time I reached the hostel, it was 11pm, and the reception area was closed for the night. Nonetheless, the owner's husband opened the front door for me almost immediately upon me pressing the doorbell. I was worried given the late hour and this not being a hotel with 24 hr reception, I might not be able to check-in, but my fears were unfounded. I was welcomed warmly and after the check-in formalities, I was in my room after almost 12 hours on the road. Here, I must thank the host for waiting up for me and completing my check in. The hostel is a well-renovated Bangkokian house located beside one of the city's canals. While I did not manage to find out more about the house itself due to my short stay, it does provide a unique guest experience given that it is probably one of Bangkok's 'traditional' houses. I stayed in the double room, which was amazingly clean and tidy. Card access for entering the main door and room. Room was spacious with good air-conditioning and plenty of power points (2-pin). Shared showers and toilets on the ground floor for all rooms, which was not an issue for me since there were sufficient numbers of cubicles. There was no period during my stay where there was any queue for either the showers (soap and shampoo provided) or toilets. Note that towels need to be rented; other toiletries can be purchased at the 7-11 nearby (or if sold at the reception). Those with mobility issues may not find this hostel accessible as the rooms are located on the second and third floors with no elevator access. Some reviewers have remarked that there are rules to be observed during the stay (e.g. no eating in the rooms, no moving of furniture within the room). I find these rules reasonable as they do contribute to the cleanliness of the room, which I appreciate greatly. Takeaway meals can be eaten at the pantry area, where coffee sachets, hot and cold water, some Thai snacks and utensils are provided. In any case, this is a house, and for the very reasonable rates, I feel that travelers should respect the expectations set by the hosts for staying in their home. Ultimately, what initially drew me to make a booking here was the chance to stay in a typical Bangkok house, with the beautiful mosaic tiles on the staircase leading to the second floor, areas of greenery on the balcony, wooden flooring etc. The hosts and staff are also very friendly and always willing to respond to queries or just have a chat!
