What shall I say more than the headline already says. Reason enough to visit Paradise Resort on Sukorn Island. The island has one of the best roads we have seen in Thailand but almost no cars :-) but Dolphins when you are luck...we have been ♥ The food is yummy and the restaurant has the perfect location to enjoy the sunset. Thank you!

We spent five nights here in late January and had a fabulous time, and were touched with the care the staff showed towards guests. 
Firstly, this is a very quiet and serene resort with no computers or internet, kayaks, tvs or loud bar.  There are other more lively places on Koh Sukorn, but Paraside Resort has its own isolated beach on the north-west corner of the island so you only see other people if you leave the property.  
Electricity only runs from 6pm to 6am and the showers have one temperature, but you don't any more than that.  
We had a beachfront cabin with airconditioning for 1600 baht per night (possibly a special deal) and had to pay for all meals.  The bed was comfortable with a mosquito net. We also did a one-day snorkelling trip at nearby islands for 800 baht each.  We got private transfers to Trang for 1000 baht each way, 40 mins in a clean car with a good driver. The bus takes nearly three hours and involves several changes. 
The snorkelling trips were led by Tony, the excellent manager who takes care of guests. He is a local from the mainland who sells salads at Trang market in the off-season and is thoughtful host whose only concern is whether guests have a good time and make the most of their holiday.  He helped us book train tickets to our next destination and picked up supplies on the mainland for other guests. 
The restaurant cooked great food, one particular coconut and seafood soup stood out.  We had all our meals there apart from one lunch where we visited the "Little Restaurant", which also had excellent food. 
The cabins were free-standing wooden structures with a front porch. There were gaps between the bathroom and outside, but in a tropical climate on a remote island why would you want to shut everything out? We shared the resort with only one other couple, but noticed a few guests from other hotels on the island dropping in on their bike ride around the island. 
Overall a great place where you can sit on a beach swing or stand in the water watching the sun set between far-away islands while forgetting about where you came from.

Amazing View, Amazing Huts, Amazing Dolphins

Exactly what we were looking for, and with good food

Normally I'm on that belief, that if you have nothing good to say - you better keep your mouth shut!
But after staying at Sukorn Paradise Resort, I simply have no other choice than send out a warning for guest considering going there.
I have been travelling at lot in Thailand, and I have never experienced anything like the treatment we got at this resort.

We were greeted on arrival by a very special guy who turned out to be the hotel manager. He began by hurling obscenities out indiscriminately, on how he could borrow me and sleep with me for a couple of nights. I'm not sensitive - so we took it with a smile, and as an attempt to 'western humor'.

When we got our bungalow the standard were really low, compared to the price paid. The exterior was really worn by weather and high humidity, but classic thaistyle. It was definately not cleaned up, and the sheets on the bed did not smell as if they had been changed for quite some time. We had to sleep on our towels because the bed was so grose!
In addition, an electrical installation on the terrace was directly dangerous. It sent big sparks off that easily could have ignited the whole bungalow. We contacted the manager to get it fixed, but had to ask several times before it was actually done.
On the same day the sink fell down in the bathroom in our neighboring hut.

After one day, a German couple arrived. They had booked a beachfront air-conditioned room. It turned out that the manager had overbooked the place, and therefore there was no room for them. 
Instead, they were offered a large hut with 8 beds well back from the beach (at the same price, no compensatory discount) and were assured that they would get the hut alone.
Later that day, there was suddenly one more couple (as the manager had arranged overpriced transfer from the airport for), with a booking for another bungalow. Still nothing available. So one more overbooking. 
As a solution to the problem, the manager offered them to sleep in the same hut as the German couple (without clearing it with them first!) and their romantic bungalow dream suddenly ended up with a shared dorm-room for 4 people! They were mildly shocked, but would not cause that the new-arrived couple had place to stay.
Another couple came in vain and had to take off again, while a third got a fan room instead of the ordered air-conditioned room.

As if that were not enough trouble, the manager sold us a full day snorkeling trip together with 2 other couples (which of course was dramatically overpriced). As there was no wi-fi spot, we could not check the weather forecast, and therefore agreed to manager to check the weather in the morning and cancel the trip if it was sunny. He assured us in the morning for good weather, but already half an hour after we left the resort by boat, big black clouds and a thunderstorm were upon us. The waves were huge high, and water poured into the boat, and we were all really scared! We sailed back to the resort immidately, and kindly asked for a monety refund. The manager refused to pay us back, but after much discussion we had, however, half the amount back.
Whether it was a smart choice is debatable, cause the rest of our stay we were treated so badly that I would rather have done without the bath we got in return for the trip.
The manager and his staff ignored us completely consistent, did not respond to our inquiries, and our room was not cleaned once during our 4 nights there. New Year's Eve we had to wait for more than 1½ hour for our food - which seemed like a deliberate action.

As if that were not enough, the electricity were missing repeatedly during the stay, and the staff were absent most of the time (and angry and unpleasant rest of the time).
 
When all is said, we ended up actually to have 4 wonderful days at the Paradise resort - because we met a lot of amazing people! The beach, the surroundings and the view was beautiful, the water nice and clear and the food in the restaurant nothing but stunning. Delicious autentic thai-food. It's a shame that a place with so much potential to be something great, is destroyed by a dishonest and unpleasant manager.
 
Sukorn is a beautiful island, and definitely hightly recommended - but find another resort if you want to avoid being disappointed by uprofessionalisme and dishonesty on a high-high level! However, rent a motorbike and visit the restaurant! It's definately worth it!

Anything but paradise!

"I rate  hotel negatively. cost for night is 1600 thb or not so little as to the Thailand and zero service.Beach very dirty and nasty owners. for 7 days in advance we paid and we could not do before and they refused to pay us the print characters owners money.Toilet did not work for 3 days-I would not recommend the hotel, the same tragedy. island of ko sukorn very enjoyable.I'll add more of lost us a lot of things during washing and no one even sorry
