Seashell Coconut Village Koh Tao

This accommodation is a more affordable section of Seashell Resort (a dive resort on Sairee Beach). We booked expecting it to be an independent place, so we were a bit surprised when we checked into a fancy (by our budget standards) lobby and then were escorted via golf cart across the street and up a hill to the Coconut “village”. The bungalows are comfortable enough, with a bench and a queen size mattress (a bit hard but I like that), a fan, a small vanity supplied with toiletries (the standard cheap shampoo, body wash, soap, Q-tips, and a shower cap), and a bathroom. All the windows had screens on them which kept most of the bugs at bay (it rained while we were there so the mosquitos were PLENTIFUL). Outside you have two bamboo chairs and a table, as well as a clothes line. Our bungalow was quite isolated which depending on what you like, could be good or bad, although the nice thing was the door had a hefty lock, which you could use both inside and outside, so we felt pretty secure. You’re in a thin forest of palm trees, but surrounded by jungle, as well as a couple local homes. As many do in the area, some of the locals would burn garbage nearby which could be a turn off for some. Being in the jungle, night time was also quite loud, with gibbons talking to each other, cicadas making a choir whenever suited them, and plenty of geckos squeaking away (we had a couple take up camp in our bungalow and they can be quite loud! By the end of our stay we weren’t too phased by them). All-in-all, the accommodation did what we needed it to, which was give us a place to shower and sleep safely at night. The nice thing about staying here is that you’re able to use the facilities of the resort, which includes their WiFi and pool, which we enjoyed. We only used the WiFi in the lobby, as I’m fairly sure the WiFi elsewhere was for those who payed to stay at the resort itself. People at the resort also had breakfast included in their stay, but that is not included in the Coconut Village accommodation. If you’re looking for decent budget jungle lodging with a hint of beach resort comfort that you can walk down the hill to, Seashell Coconut Village would be a great choice.
