An older style place that'sbeen in buiseness for years..pretty much unchanged.It could dowith a bit upgrade in parts but for the cheap prices it's good value..good location,not a bad place to stay on the river kwai.It's basic but good value..quiet too.  

It's ok

We stayed here for a few nights just to chill out and recover from Bangkok. Honestly it was the most relaxing place I've ever been. The rooms are simple, a bed, small bedside table, a door and thats pretty much it. Basic but comfortable, I've never felt so relaxed as I was here. . .  
However the bathrooms are possibly the worst I've seen! The toilet opened up into the river, which is fair enough but the walls, sink and hose that we had to shower were all covered in dead flys and black mold. You honestly couldn't go in the bathroom in the daytime because the room was just to hot. You'd come out soaked in sweat!
We had air-con in our room but it didn't work. its not all bad though, just open your door and dangle your legs in the river with a book. 

Honestly the location is great if you're looking to chill out an its not from all the attractions in the area. The staff were friendly and helped as much as they could. 

Honestly a coat of paint and fixing the walkways an this place could be amazing!

Great view of the Kwai River. Very limited. Not very clean, not well maintained, but very pleasant nonetheless. Very nice sunset on the Kwai River....magic! I advise without the children..not very close to the waterfront.

The view!

The location is nice, quiet but close to the interesting attractions of the tourist center of Kanchanaburi. We have taken a room for 1000 baht. However, it is expensive compared to the quality of services: the rooms are old and the cleanliness is limited. The air conditioners are old and VERY noisy. We had room 219: the view of the river is nice. The reception is nice, but nothing more.

A bit of a limit

We stayed at this hotel one night. A special place, in contact with nature. If you suffer from seasickness, don't go! Room is quite spacious, very unoccupied. Bathroom no comment, forget the hot water! Staff is quite courteous. Services offered: 1. Wi-Fi, forget that it works! 2. Breakfast, you're fine if you find the coffee among all that is offered in the menu. 3. Lunch and dinner, go to the side restaurant!!! What you ask for (from the menu) they're very likely finished!!! If you like the animals, find the beautiful kittens!! It's worth dreaming about it for at least one or two nights.

Floating house

The Sams River Rafthouse is an original and very charming guesthouse. For those who know how to give up luxury, it's a must-stay one night in its floating suite with air conditioning, shovels, refrigerator, bathtub and balcony directly on the Kwai River. Fully made of wood, consumed by weather and sun outside, crispy and polished inside. And when did we find a similar atmosphere? For the very modest sum of 1000baht. The hall completely open with heavy wooden furnishings, steep iron stairs leading to floating accommodations on the water, a loud noise that opened up and has slept comfortably all night on the balcony with us.

That's a good one!

Lovely floating ponton guesthouse with an ideal location, quiet, breathtaking view of the Kwai River, close to the main street of the bar resto and guesthouses. We had a very spacious 800 thb room with clim,TV,fridge,sofa and bathtub in the bathroom, the must for madame :).

Ideal location but poor accommodation

Apartment bungalow on the river for the pleasant side. On the other hand, the maintenance leaves to be desirable and the holed mosquito nets have not only advantages on the waterfront. Moreover, sheet roof that stores the heat. House quite casual.

Disappointing

GH is beautiful overall and cheap. It is very well placed because it is 2 minutes walk from maenamkwai road, LA street that moves and where you can find everything you need. Plus 3km from the kwai river bridge and the war cemetery+ museum. But, it's not clean! One night is enough for the payment (sleeping on the tangy water makes it a little tangy ;)).

Well-placed, overpaid but not clean

I stayed at this hotel in early January 2011, I chose it because it was very easy to spot when I arrived by train from Bangkok, because it was cheap and because I wanted to experience staying in a rafthouse, a floating house practically. The experience was very positive in essence, except for a few small initial disadvantages since they couldn't find my booking made via the internet! Once the printed confirmation email received at the time of booking the kind girl at the reception (a very good thing but in its original kind) consulted the head and after a few minutes he pointed me to the room that was better than the booked one but offered me, for the occasion, at the same price. The bedroom from my bedroom was well booked in the internet... In the room, we have a nice, but with a nice, but with a nice, but with a nice, but with a nice, but with a nice, but with a nice, but also a nice bathroom system, but we're going to use a nice, well-washed, well-washed, well-washed bathroom system, but with a nice, but not-washed
