For $70 should be a bit more comfortable/ cleaner

Wasn’t so bad for 1 night . But quite noisy if you’re not an early riser .

I stayed two nights at the B&B. The room was lovely, with beautiful wooden furniture and a nice view over the rooftops of Stone Town. The bed was sooo comfortable and you have both air conditioning and a really strong fan if you prefer. Location on Kenyatta Rd was perfect - you can get there directly in a taxi (unlike the hotels in the alleys) or it’s a short walk from the ferry terminal and dala-dala stops. Breakfast was great - such a huge bowl of fresh fruit and the Arabic coffee was a real treat! The staff was all lovely and welcoming, they even accommodated a super early check in.

Great base in Stone Town

I took the plane to travel to Zanzibar, I stepped through the front door of Stonetown Café B&B and traveled back in time. No words can describe what we felt in this former palace converted into a guest house in the historic heart of Stonetown. The stairs, the floor, and the furniture were all made of noble wood and one feels that the builders of this property did it with great refinement and taste. Our plane had landed at 2 am, and in the morning when I opened the shutters I was amazed by the sight of the old city waking up. It's hard to choose between having breakfast on the balcony of my room or on the terrace of the hotel restaurant.
The location of the hotel is strategic, you are close to the beach, the best restaurants, and the attractions of the city.
The service was impeccable and the welcome is warm. Special thanks to Hazem with whom I made friendship during the 3 months between my reservation and our arrival. He gave me a lot of advice over the course of my stay and his advice was precious.
The car he chartered for me to pick us up and drop us off at the airport was always on time.
I also thank Ilyas and Elizabeth because they were very helpful and friendly.
In summary, for a stopover in Stonetown, I recommend Stonetown café B&B without hesitation.

Nice place to enjoy the real Stonetown

It was good and best of the best to get lunch and dinner I was with my friends we enjoyed a lot was excellent place and very nearly when your at the city and very safe restaurant so if you want to be safe

Extra nice staff. They don't bother you a lot.

Good wifi signal. was pretty fast, at one point I was getting 2MB per second.

They have a nice cafe/restaurant on ground floor, very chill place to cool down and relax.

Was very budget friendly.

This is a great choice if your looking for a place to stay in Stone Town that is affordable and provides good service.  You can walk to the night market easily and back, and you can easily walk into Stone Town. We liked that we didn’t have to pay a fortune for an authentic Swahili room. They provide free internet, and the cafe downstairs serves good food.

Great location, value, and service

We stayed here for one week. The Café is in the best position in Zanzibar City and right in the cultural heart of town. The Café downstairs also serves great food and not too expensive. The staff are very friendly Ave easy to help with any request, no matter how small. Recommended.

Perfectly Situated, Friendly Staff

Always great food and juice options. it is located in shangani, which is close to the main tourist shops. i recommend the swahili prawns and the fresh passion fruit juices. Also they do decent Arabic style coffee.

Great Value for Money

Stayed here over Christmas for 4 nights, location is brilliant 5 minutes to beach right near all shops and restaurants.  Room was nice and big and staff very attentive.  With breakfast you have an allowance you can order all day off the menu which was great fir us as we are not early rises.  The food is very nice here and very generous portions.  Highly recommend. 

Great find

During our visit to Stone Town in November, we stayed at the Stone Town Cafe B&B. The location couldn’t be more perfect, it is right on the main street, a few steps from the Freddie Mercury house, about 2 minutes from the beach, and 5 minutes from the Old Fort and other main sightseeing spots. The B&B is located above the Cafe & Restaurant, but don’t worry about noise, we slept so well here, undisturbed in our quiet room. Breakfast was served downstairs in the cafe and was abundant and delicious. They also serve what could easily be the best Masala Chai in town. We ate dinner in the restaurant one of the nights and everything tasted lovely, especially the grilled tuna. There are a school and a foundation connected to this place and if you sign up for tours through Stone Town Cafe they donate a % to the foundation which is amazing. Thank you so much for everything, we had a great stay and would definitely stay here again.
