Kirawira Serena Camp

The most gorgeous place, excellent staff, we had a perfect stay! The camp is located far to the west, so is quieter than the central Serengeti area - the first night the place was ours. Simon, the manager, was wonderful, helpful, but not overbearing. Helped us to plan the rest of our trip, and we really felt well taken care of. Our wait staff - Stefano and the ladies, were great - really helpful, understood dietary and timing preferences, and were just lovely. The tents are perfect - the layout is great, clean, bug-free, and old-timey charming. Don't laugh when they show you the panic button - you may need it! Because the camp is not fenced, the wild comes to visit regularly (giraffe, elephants, monkeys, antelope all range nearby, if not in the camp itself), but be warned! The second night we were there, a pride of lions came through the camp - a male behind the dining tent, and lioness in front of us - not 20 metres from where we were on our dessert course. It was a bit scary, but thanks to the GardaWorld guards and camp management, we were fine, and it proved a major highlight to our whole trip. I won't forget that visit! We visited the pool but didn't go in - it's in a beautiful setting. We mostly took advantage of the normally serene environment, birdwatching, comfortable setting, and excellent, made to order food. I would go again 150%!
