Tried to extort money from me days after check out. I have never heard of this or experienced it before. Blocked my credit card for fraud just in case. They said an amount was still due when it wasn’t. Really regret booking this hotel, not good for foreigners.

Dishonest staff

Stay Inn Hotel is located in the noisiest part of Dar es Salaam - Kariakoo. Someone blasts a car horn here about once every second. There is no where you can escape from the bedlam, every room is exposed to a torrent of noise from outside, even on the highest floor.

Room is good size, bed is comfortable. Shower is hot and powerful. One criticism: (note: breakfast serving time is 7-10am) I’ve been to Stay Inn previously, i show up at their breakfast room at 9am, not much food left. Hence I got there at 7am-ish this time, as I’m not the sort of person of person who like to pile on the plate in one go, I made a couple trips to the buffet to pick small amount each time so as to ensure I won’t waste any food by taking too much which I can’t consume. The shocking remark I got from the staff is ‘there is other guests too, don’t take anymore’ This put a very sour ending to what would have been a very nice stay.

Business visit stopover in Dar

A Quaint little inn. Friendly fro nt office staff. One of the housekeeping stay was rather rude though.Nice breakfast. The room I had was spacious and very clean. Did not eat, because there was no variety to choose from.

Transit...

We just stayed for 2 nights ..the stay was good, room are spacious,  near to ferry terminal, just 5 - 7 mins drive. The staffs are friendly and kind. We were travelling on a low budget plan so it proved to be a safe and worth the price .

Nice place just  to spend the night.

My God, this proved a nightmare for me. Since I was visiting DAR Es Salaam for the first time and thought of this place as being near I fell in the trap. 
Below average breakfast, staff cannot speak English, narrow stairs and lobby, health and safety highly compromised, 4 local language channels and turtle paced internet that occasionally worked. The street was all rocks and dirt. No proper pavement.

Avoid this every time. 

Review

Stayed at the stay inn in the Central business district of dar es salaam. From the outside the hotel looks dilapated and it can be difficult to find even though it's in close proximity to the main road. Once you find it you go up the stairs to the first floor to check in at the reception. Then you can take the elevator to your floor. Keep in mind this hotel is one of those seedy looking hotels but it does have 1 security personnel at the entrance. If you are use to swanky or decent standard hotel then avoid this because it doesn't have any of that. 

The good thing with this hotel is there is high speed wifi on all the floors but it's a hit and miss with the internet signal. However the internet is high speed. Also the rooms are an average size nothing spectacular. The bathrooms are clean but not appealing if you like your creature comforts to be top notch. My bathroom didn't have water pressure and it had a smell that could clear out any room. Also maintenance is very shoddy. The door handle and the sink faucets were spray painted to match the chrome colour and someone forgot to put tape around when spray painting because there was paint everywhere. 

The only good thing for comfort was to have an a/c which made the heat bearable with the fan at the same time. This hotel does have electronic doors and a good electricity back up which makes it pleasant enough to stay. 

The linen was dirty and I was hesitant to sleep in it because the staff didn't replace your linen rather just flip it over. So that made it quite disgusting. 

There was breakfast but it isn't like your standard hotels. You can have corn flakes and some milk. They serve boiled eggs and toast. If there are few guests then they don't give you buffet but rather whatever is left over is put on your plate. I avoided the breakfast because it looked really disgusting. 

Overall if you have work in the area then it's not bad for an economical traveller but there are better options on the main road which are the same price range and better suited. I may stay at this hotel again but that's only if I had no other options.

Also to note there were no safes in the rooms so you can leave your personal belongings with the reception but I wouldn't trust them either. However the hotel is outfitted with cameras on each floor so no one really steals stuff. But you must be careful.

A little of this and that

Reasonable price for the accommodation. Average breakfast buffet. Rooms adequate yet a bit tight. Beds not suitable for tall people. Serves the purpose. The neighbourhood is crowded. No parking facilities close by.

Adequate 

Honestly, not bad for the price and expectation. Hotel staff is very friendly and rooms are equipped with anything you might need. It shows its age a bit - power outages, wi-fi spotty at best, beds are reasonably firm, but nothing make or break.Great location if you want to be in the middle of Dar es Salaam. Right next to Karakoo Market and within 10-15 minute walking distance from a mall and great restaurants.

Great mid-level hotel in the middle of Dar

located in a muddy small lane. narrow staircase besides a barber shop. never hire any taxi for sightseeing as they don't quite understand English. it was not safe in night time. however, staff was friendly and helpful. 
lots of mosquitoes in the room.
