This is a hotel in desperate need of renovation, but given the value for money, it is ok. Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is very basic. A typical cheap African hotel. I would have expected more from the pictures and description on expedia.

I arrived early February visiting the University and their international officer recommended this hotel and that most academics stay here as it is closer to the University.

This place is not maintained at all, it is very mouldy with bar fridges that are only a display. Showers are not working and forget about taking a hot shower as there is only cold water it doesn't matter which side you turn the tap lever. I've been fixing the toilet seat every time I need to use it, the shower does not drain properly. When you point out any challenges you are experiencing they look at you as if you are crazy - maybe is the language barrier I don't know. The bed sheet, night-frill, was broken and they did not change it until I left.

The food! Dare if you may or if you are not scared of food poisoning. It does not look appetising at all; for breakfast you get leftovers from a day before. Nothing is available as indicated in the menu; two or three items are always unavailable and prices remain the same either way.

And oh, they don't speak nor understand English.
Forget about customer service; I doubt if they even know the meaning of that. 

WiFi! Bring your own WiFi router because the hotel one's is always unavailable.
There is no DSTV here, only local channels and forget about following up on what is happening in the world; you will catch-up when you get back home.

There is absolutely nothing that is functioning well here; the place is not even supposed to be operating under hospitality industry as they are clueless as to what that is.

And oh, watch out for the cab drivers, they regard the patrons of this hotel as ATMs, the hotel is not bothered about arranging that for you. I guess the writing is on the wall.

If you can, avoid the Regency Park Hotel at all costs. It does not even deserve a star.
I had to go and spend more money for a better place as they refused to refund me.

An excuse of a hotel; avoid it if you could!

The facility was terrible, starting from poor service. The rooms were not good, power outlets not working, a double room with utensils for a single person. The toilet was not maintained, the tiles were cracked and holding water witch was retained under the tiles. The room we got first was supposed to be a beach view but the balcony door was broken so we couldn’t use the balcony to see the beach. It’s expensive for no reason. Am sorry to say but this was the worst hotel stay I have had. Pricy with poor service

Worst hotel stay

I stayed at the hotel for 13 night. Rooms are clean, but very poorly runned. TV has only 5 channels and no international news channel, such as BBC, CNN, or other ... just some sport channels and 1 or 2 local channels.. very very dissapointing.. The food is reasonable but.. my last night I ordered a pizza and the price doubled when they brought it. From 14.000 TZS to 32.000 TZS, inclusive 3.000 TZS room service, (Which I accept) but I do not accept a double of the price because the chef decided it. I send it back .. The staf is friendly and helpful but very young and limited in english .. and at the reception  always on their telephone and / or eating. I am sorry but this is not a professional behaviour. The restaurant is like a "canteen" with tables with no atmosphere, They want you to eat quickly and leave even faster. Next time I am in Dar Es Salaam, I will chose another hotel, and will report this to the company i am working for. 

Disappointing

I booked and paid for a suite and they gave me a standard room and couldn’t compensate me for the difference.

This is old hotel..so condition is not perfect.Especially pressure of water is too weak for good shower.Staffs are good. Parking is good also.

A nice place to stay. I enjoyed myself. Keep it up, Regency Park. I liked even the musical events that are lined up at the garden downstairs. A nice place to stay with a spectacular view of the sea. I liked the breeze of the sea.

Staff were great. They are managing a pretty old property. Breakfast was frugal but offers to help from the staff was nice. Pool water color didnt feel like I wanted to get in. But heard children splash in during the day.

I had the most ridiculous experience with the room service / restaurant. 

The first night they informed me they could not do any salads due to a lack of olive oil. I said it was fine without. My chicken salad consisted of deep fried chicken skins and bones, served with yellow lettuce leaves, and took 1 hour and 10 minutes to arrive. 

The second night I ordered a fruit salad and water and asked if I could have a cappuccino. They indicated the coffee bar (with a Lavazza machine) was closed and then forgot the rest of my order. I enquired 45 minutes later and my fruit salad arrived 50 minutes after the call. The third night I ate in the restaurant (the ‘roast’ chicken was deep fried again) with chips. I put the meal on my tab, only to be woken up at 23:30 by the restaurant waitress who was knocking on my door to check my hotel room number. Madness. Could not sleep after that.

The coffee bar is closed during breakfast and I did not manage to order a cappuccino or similar once during my stay. 

The hotel breakfast is served in the hallway, not the restaurant and the tables far from clean, boiled eggs undercooked, and no butter being served. I only had breakfast once. 

The bathroom was smelly / mouldy and in desperate need of repairs and upgrading. Only feather pillows with musty smelling bed linen. 

The cleaners do not close the doors after exiting rooms but allow the doors to automatically slam closed resulting in incessant door banging noises that can be heard from any room on the same floor. The outdoor karaoke cafe is also super annoying when you want to sleep.

The only good things were the hapless friendly staff and the complimentary toothbrush in the bathroom. 

Don’t eat here

Our stay was good. However the hotel had not checked the condition of our room before we got there. It was very damp and lacked maintenance. We were moved to another room which was okay however the hotel in general requires regular maintenance.
