Ilancat Country House B&B

First of all do not rely on google maps for this homestay. It will take you to the wrong place. Follow the direction in one of my pictures. Wherever google maps takes you, keep going for about 2 blocks, then turn left into a parking lot where they sell pottery ceramics. You will see a set of stairs on the side of the back building with long red flag with Chinese letters. The homestay is within a building, in an alley behind the main road. I know it sounds sketchy but that’s how countryside is. Trust me it’s a legit place and very well ran by a lovely couple. NOTE : Checkin time ends at 9 PM ! Don’t come late ! Onto the actual house: WOW ! You can tell they put a lot of love and attention to the details. There’s many cute little knick-knacks and country/farm style decors. It reminds me of visiting grandma’s place. There are 2 cute poodles living in this house. There are also a couple of birds. The pets seem clean nicely groomed and well cared for. You will need to take off your shoes and wear the house slippers provided. The unit has 4 floors, so you will have to carry up your luggage. Something to consider if your party has physical limitations. There is NO mini-fridge or iron/ironing board in the rooms. There is a hair dryer though. For the larger double bed Sweet Lady room: Very romantic with canopy drapes around the bed. Balcony with seating area, water hose to wash anything, and some cute Parisian style decors. Sofa, TV, tea kettle, 2 hair dryers, dehumidifier. I like that the bathroom is split into 2 rooms : one with toilet and mini sink, the other with shower and larger sink. This way the bathroom is not tied up. Water pressure is good for shower, although it’s on a high floor so it takes a while for water to get warm. Kind of a waste of water to run it to get warm. Shampoo and body wash, toothbrush toothpaste and shower cap provided. Twin Room : 2 small twin beds, sitting area, shower bathroom. Breakfast is included. You will also have access to large dining area and kitchen table. There is a hot water station, free tea and light snacks/fruits. There is a kitchen, I am not sure if guests can use it to cook. Please check with owners. It is a lovely homestay. You will not get modern here. But if you want quaint, thoughtful details and decor, friendly service, peaceful escape from city, this place is for you. Staff speaks Taiwanese and a bit of English.
