Hua Pinju Motel

I came here on business, and whilst I wouldn't say that this hotel for ideal for business travellers, for tourists and people looking to chill, it's a really fun, cool place to stay if you're visiting Taichung. The place is not far from the airport or HSR, though taxi drivers may not know the motel itself - you'd be better off saying 'Shizheng Lu and Huiwen Lu' The front desk is actually a booth between the driveway, since it's a motel, most people find it handy because they can travel with their car and keep it locked in the garage area in front of their room. Bring your booking with you printed out or on your phone and speak slowly to the ladies helping you to check in as their English is ok, but it's even better if you speak some Chinese! However they're very friendly! The room itself is big, big bed, quirky, soft 'romantic' colours with various light and music settings. There are small snacks and drinks, with hot water for coffee and tea. The bathroom has a jacuzzi in it, which is huge. You can watch TV, with CNN news or national geographic if you want English channels. Other channels are in Chinese. You also get a stock of toiletries included. There isn't a gym or a place for breakfast, though there's a TGI Fridays 5 mins away, a Carrefour supermarket and McDonalds. You get McDonalds vouchers for a basic breakfast. Overall this place is best if you're coming with a 'significant other', however it was a break from the normal hotels I've stayed in, and for the price, it's definitely worth it for the experience.
