The inn is in a very quiet neighborhood that's easily accessible to the Jiufen old street by foot.  It is a bit tricky to find where it is, but they make sure to meet you outside and walk you to the inn. Extremely helpful staff! We reserved two different rooms and stayed for one night.  One of the rooms had two sets of futon, which were very comfortable.  The other room had a large bed, but the mattress was on a harder side.  If you are used to a soft mattress, you may have a hard time sleeping in the bed. Besides the hard mattress, everything was perfect!

Loved our stay! The property was located very high up in Jiufen, gave us beautiful views of the area. The entire property was Japanese inspired, beautifully decorated and clean. The owners were super nice, prepared all the guests’ breakfasts in bento boxes, which were pleasing to the eyes as well as tasty. I highly recommend this property!

Rooms were the traditional japanese style with wood\paper sliding doors, tatami mats but with raised beds. Nice common area, and breakfast is in a building just next door to the hotel, food and views from breakfast were amazing.  My only complaint was that the rooms need a little updating. Some moldy smelling bedding in the closet, bedspreads should have been replaced a long time ago. Other than that, everything was top notch and quiet.

Excellent quiet location, incredible view and top quality japanese breakfast

A very pleasant stay in a quiet and serene place where you get to see a great sea view at a height,  away from the crowdedness of Jiufen Old Street. Room has simple deco but comfortable. It is worth the climb of some stairs up and finding of the place. Only complaint is that the toilet flush didn't work very well.

Very satisfactory staff and service. Neatly-done Japanese style bedroom with futon and tatami. Absolutely stunning view with very tranquil atmosphere. Amazing japanese breakfast. 

However, after a much consideration, I would not recommend this place. 

We were lost for almost an hour before we could find this place. Googlemap and the map they provided on the website did not help at all as it includes climbing stairs that could not be easily seen. 

(When you find the elemantary school at the end of stairs from Jiufen old street area, turn left and walk along the road. After a few minutes walk, you will find a place called A-home. Turn left immediately, DO NOT enter that narrow street or you will get lost like us. Walk along the way until you find a white-colored B&B then walk pass that. Then you will find a tiny park with a swing on your left, walk along for a few metres more before you could reach this place. And yes, imagine walking through that in a heavy rain where you have almost zero visibility.)

I think they could improve by provide more visible signposts to reach this place.

The location kills it all

Kyufun komachi is a pleasant little inn.  It was clean and comfortable.  I appreciated very much that the innkeeper allowed us to check in very early because the room was available and I could take a quick shower before heading out to Shifen.
I would stay here again, now that I know how to walk up.

After getting on the bus, please get off at "Jiufen Old Tunnel Entrance" stop and enter Jiufen Old Street. When arrive at No.155 Jishan Street (it is almost that the end, when you see the stairs that may bring you down to A-mei teahouse, instead of go down, go up the stairs.  Just before this turn, you will see one of the stores that sell meatballs but you will see a lot of cooked white chicken being displayed), take the stairs and walk up, "Jiufen Elementary School" is at the end of the stairs, please walk along the path towards left. After passing "Dragon Gate Inn‎" and "A-HOME",(after you see A-HOME you will see like a white building call "Mei Hao [chinese words]) keep going forward and you will see the sign of "Jiufen Komachi"

Their breakfast I believe has not changed for years, given that I see the photos of the same food that I ate.  I really can't complain about it, it was tasty.  My friend who was with me does not eat fish, so kudos to them on the spot their pan fried some radish.  Maybe they can consider updating their breakfast.

My rating of 3 stars is for overall experience, but I would like to give the staff 5 stars for all the efforts to accommodate us.

Pleasant little inn -  Kyufun Komachi

Locate almost at the top end of old street. required a lot walking. 

However, we had our breakfast in a quaint dining area and we received the warmest welcome by the owner.

my kids love the room very much and we had a great stay in the Japanese themed room. Both our rooms come with cosy balcony where we have tea and had a great family bonding.
