It is value for money. To our surprise, the host is Vietnamese so she was really nice to us (I traveled w a grp of vietnamese). She chitchat-ed and showed us the way around Jiu Fen.

It's quite near Jiufen old street, just that you have to climb up a few staircases so if you travel w old people or have a lot of luggages, you probably wouldn't want to stay here. 

The room is clean! Breakfast provided. 

Good experience overall. 

Hi folks, this is Jiufen, which is an old hill city. Hence I would say it is authentic accommodation in Jiufen. Do not expect a 5 stars rating hotel here, it just doesn't match right. 

I believe stairs are just so common in this hill city. 
Hence do think twice if you don't want to walk and climb much ya as there are lot of staircases in Yuan Yee and also around Jiu Fen old streets. 

Lady boss is cute and kind, and of course capable, thumbs up!
Simple but nice sandwiches and warm soya bean drink served.

Very heavy and thick blanket in the room, lol. 
You might not able to find Yuan Yee as easy and have to pass by cemetery area before reaching there. 

Can actually see mountain and sea from my room but the mist is just too heavy on that night of my staying, too bad.

recommended to young people, not really to elderly.

Was visiting Jiufen with my teen daughter. The home stay was basic. Was expect to have proper local breakfast instead of sandwich. Place easy to found.

Unfortunately, not sure if I would recommend others to visit Jiufen. Yes, the scenery was magical but hardly able get any good pictures during as the place are overloaded with local and foreign tourists. Unless stay there over night and walking around after peak hour. 

A place to sleep

First time staying in a homestay and not sure if I like this kind of experience.  Hotel is not hard to find but some stairs to get there through the alleys from the old street.  Shops closed really early and by the time I reached Jiufen, only food available was from the convenience stores.  From the rooftop you can see the night view of Jiufen if you are not staying in a sea view room.  I was staying in a mountain view room which shows lots of the houses and not the mountain.  Room itself is fairly rustic.  Bathroom blinds doesn't seems to protect me from outside view so I have to shower in the dark as it seems that side of my room faces a public carpark and the curtains in the bedroom also have a cutout that allows people from the carpark opposite the building to see into my room.  Really don't feel safe and private.  Lots of dogs in the neighbourhood and their barking makes me crazy and makes me feel there are some people crawling around as they never locked their main door.  And there are no grilles on the windows so it makes me worried that someone is going to climb into my room everytime the dog barks.  As can be predicted I didn't sleep well.  Was told breakfast starts at 8 so I didn't go up till 8 which was crap because already a party before me had finished their breakfast and I wanted to have an early start.  Good thing i didn't missed the bus to Ruifang train station and had 10 mins to spare to hop on the train to Taipei.
