“De En Gorge” is a really nice guesthouse located close to Maolin in the mountains East of Kaohsiung, it has spectacular views. The owners and managers are a local Aboriginal family, they made me feel extremely welcome, just like one of the family. The manager is very unique in the area, he has a Masters degree in Eco tourism and can organize highly informative Eco tours of the area. While I was there he took a group on a night time exploring mission, the group came back extremely excited afterwards. I stayed in the dormitory, but they also have a series of stone cabins and camping sites. The café/ restaurant was great for breakfast/ dinner and the locally produced coffee was amazing!!!
