It is quite common nowadays with R&B in HuaLien. My niece booked 天外天民宿 two nights for our February trip to Hualian. The building is similar to a US version of private townhouse. The first floor is the living room and a loft is the kitchen plus dining room. All guest rooms are on the second and third floor. I like the design of the room, very elegant and modern. Most of all, the whole place was so clean and well-maintained. They offered westernized breakfast. The transportation was easy by calling a local taxi network. They usually arrive within 5 minutes with a fixed rate of NT$100. 天外天民宿 offered a curtailed one-day tour for us, we were very happy with the service and arrangement. Didn't feel like to change any of the itinery they designed. Overall grade 9 out of 10. Much better than staying in a 5-star hotel while your main interest is not the giant Hotel Lobby or up-scale restaurant.
