A retro-chic and characteristic house ensconced in a serene area,  however, just in the center of old HengChun township, 
something that smacks of southern warmth and otherness.
Clean and tidy with all amenities provided.
Both Mama Kao and Gwen are so kind, hospitable and helpful.
Travel often associated with spontaneity and surprise.
By luckily selecting this place, I was unexpectedly rewarded with tons pleasant spontaneity and surprise.

Staying in this converted hospital was a great experience, not just for the unique nature of the building and furnishings (lots of repurposed medical items), but for the quiet, relaxed atmosphere, good location (just round the corner from the Kenting Express bus stop) and value for money.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything I needed was available by my bed or in the bathroom.

No AC in the common dormitory.. it just gets too hot sometimes.. as such there is no security although nobody touches your stuff but still you never know and hence cannot question anybody, i could never meet the owner in my 2 days of stay.. Old lady who might me mother of the owner is very helpful and does her best to help. Facilities are good.

My fried and i spent 2 nights at this hostel/guesthouse. We booked the east Asian room. It had all the essentials. The building had kitchen facilities which were open to the guests. It had microwave, fridge etc.. I really enjoyed the rooftop patio. My friends and i chilled on the roof which had a hammock :D... it was perfect. The owner Gwen is extremely helpful and friendly. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in kenting. I will definitely be back on my next visit.

Just Average

Homey, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere

This is a conveniently situated, average-priced hostel. The staff are polite and it is kept very clean. It is a converted hospital which offers a unique layout, and provides charm (or gives you the creeps depending on your perspective).

The hostel is within 100 metres of the bus drop off point, and there are a few places to hire a scooter from. You can then easily visit: Kenting National Park, various hiking routes, the lighthouse on the southernmost peak, the national aquarium and all of the beaches. Grab a travel brochure from the tourist information centre across the street from the bus stop. 

The frustrating part of our stay was actually the stray dogs that populate the street outside the hostel. They barked throughout the night and early in the morning. The hostel are not responsible for them, and I don't fault them, but they were a nuisance.

New Year Stay

When we reached the guesthouse, the owner of the guesthouse warmly welcomed us and told us she gave us a better room. However, we realised only at night that we were given the worst room - the room without aircon. And it was really humid inside there (esp during summer). 

The water pipe was spoilt too. Halfway through bathing, the water will turn sudden hot and then sudden cold, making it really annoying. 

One good fact is that it has good location in Hengchun - walking distance to the bus stop and the interior of the guesthouse was homely designed.
