We had a nice table on the terrace overlooking the lively monastery square. Menu card with good selection. We had a pre-dinner and pizza. Pre-dinner was very good, pizza could have been a little less baked... but also as good😀 Very friendly staff. We can recommend it.

The Swan Inn, a pizzeria in the centre of the old town, offers mainly Italian cuisine, clean pizza, etc. The rooms, for which Switzerland is well suited, are priced.

I booked the hotel for 2 nights. 1): When I entered the hotel, I was a little confused because I couldn't find a typical reception. I was suddenly standing in front of a bar counter at a restaurant!!! And it was booze hour (about 20:00). Then I immediately realized that there is actually no reception in the classic sense... but I found it very cool! The atmosphere... in the restaurant/hotel was very nice, warm, lively... Also the condition was very friendly and helpful. They immediately responded and asked me to wait a moment. 2): When I checked in, I knew I had to eat one night out of family grief but almost no one had to announce it. I didn't dare to ask myself if it would be possible without a cost, but the atmosphere at the hotel was very simple and flexible.

The hotel is perfectly located next to the Abbey, just a short walk from the main train station. The rooms are simple but very clean and everything you need is there, including complementary wifi. Breakfast is served in the hotel opposite and offers a rich choice.
The Italian restaurant is also very good - Schwanen is a little gem in the middle of town

Perfect for a night, right next to the Abbey

The hotel is located in the central area and not too far from the station. The room where I stayed was very small but clean, comfortable and very quiet despite facing a central road. The reception is only open during the restaurant hours (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast (discrete) is done at the Dom hotel which is located in front. There is an attached Italian restaurant and the staff speaks Italian. There is no elevator and the stairs are crazy (very steep and with short footing, very dangerous if one has luggage, too).

Good value for money

The food is fantastic if you like Italian! Great pastas and the pizzas looked great too although we ordered pastas so cannot comment on their taste! Service was good, nice clean toilets, cute decor and great location. The only negative is that the interior is quite lacking in space with the number of tables packed in. We felt like we were sharing a table with the couple next to us. However, having passed it in the summer also I now see there is plenty of outdoor seating too which solves the problem! Will be back for sure. Excellent value for money.

Gem of a restaurant!

Stayed in this hotel with my family Friday to Sunday. The rooms are simple but nice and clean. Breakfast is served at hotel on the opposite site of the street - good quality food and service.
We will stay here again if we will visit St. Gallen again.

Cheap Hotel with excellent location

Hotel in the historic center near the cathedral. Simple, clean, comfortable. Steep and somewhat dangerous stairs. Mini-TV with only German channels. Free WiFi but not too fast. Breakfast (great) is made in the Dom hotel across the street.

It's simple, but okay.

It's not really a hotel. It's a restaurant with rooms on the top floors. The hotel is clearly on the second floor. The room was clean and generous, which is not usual for a single room, of course, but I always felt that the restaurant was more important. You have to have good timing, because everything is only for meals. I knew that in advance, and I tried to arrive on time. When I introduced myself to the hotel, I suddenly felt like I was in the movie Dick and Doof. There is no reception, you just walk in the front door. The waitress didn't care what she had to do with me, but the waitress didn't ask. He tried to talk to me nervous guests, so he knew what the restaurant was going to do for me, and he probably had to get to the door in time. And then I had to go to the hotel. Then the waitress was upstairs and ask me, What's wrong with the keys, and then the keys to the hotel? And then, I didn't have to go to the door at all. And then, the keys to the hotel

The hotel is beautiful, well equipped but too expensive (first offer: CHF 145.-) for the location.
