La Maison du directeur, Maison d'hôtes

La Maison du Director is a beautifully restored historic house in the Bex countryside. The restoration has been thoughtfully done to retain original features but not at the cost of modern day comfort. There are special touches all over this well furnished guest house. Jacqueline is a wonderful and generous hostess who was very welcoming and happy impart her considerable knowledge of the area not only Bex but also some of the towns a villages along the lake and in the mountains. Our room was spacious with a lovely view of the garden, it was beautifully furnished and the bed was comfortable with very good quality linen. The en-suite bathroom was pristine and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. There were coffee/tea making facilities in our room for that early morning cup of coffee which we had outside on the vine covered terrace. The WIFI was excellent with very good speed. Breakfast each morning was a treat like no other there were homemade pastries, jams, compotes, cheese from the neighbouring farm, delicious crusty bread and fresh eggs made to order if required. Definitely Michelin Star quality. Whilst La Maison du Director is in the countryside it is a very good base from which to explore the Rhone Valley and the "Swiss Riviera" if you don't want to stay in busy Montreux or Vevey. If you are going to Lausanne ask Jaqueline for the address of her son's shop it is a veritable treasure trove filled with local produce. A great find and highly recommended Guest House
