Room right in the main house on the lake on the 3rd floor. So far so good, but very old and much too small, just like the toilet shower room. Price therefore much too expensive. Breakfast was OK, the various types of bread were even very good. When we checked out (somewhat early) the lady was extremely unfriendly, we're not going anymore.

Price - performance is not correct

We spend one very pleasant week in hotel Al Porto.  The quality of service , cleanliness, charm and food deserves 4 stars instead of the given 3 stars. Hotel Al Porto is not a modern palace but a cosy, family run hotel where it is easy to feel at home. The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful.  We are sure if the bathrooms were updated to meet today's expectations, the hotel would satisfy all who come to enjoy a break from daily commitments. We will definitely go back to do just that !

Price and Qality are well married !

Hotel in the most beautiful location of Ascona. We have been to Porto several times now, everything was always to our satisfaction, the rooms, the staff, the food. This year we had rooms in the annex with a view of the very beautiful, relaxing courtyard.

I 'd like to go back

We chose this restaurant more for the location than for the paper it leaves a little to be desired. We chose the menu of the house that seemed more acceptable to us for the price than the quantity of dishes. We weighed the Mediterranean starter a little where ingredients that don't match, grilled vegetables with melon don't marry a lot. Firstly, a plentiful risotto with pesto and a shrimp, well cooked but far from leaving you a good memory. To finish a couple of local cheeses served on hot stone, simplicity Swiss looking for stews with old-fashioned banality.

No infamy and no praise

We had an all-around amazing stay at this charming hotel located right off the main promenade in Ascona. The lake front rooms offer breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore, but we also had some quaint rooms in our party situated around a picturesque interior courtyard. The food and service at the in-house restaurant is far superior to that of various other places we tried along the promenade (which we felt were true "tourist-traps"). The personal and near around-the-clock attention of the couple that manages the hotel sets the tone for everyone else working there. Even the youngest (and most needy) ones in our party were cared for in a very sweet way.  Highly recommended, would return anytime.

Charming hotel with excellent location

A really pretty house in a very good location right on the Piazza and by the lake. Unfortunately, something has come up in the years. For a short stay (2 nights) it's OK. We had a room in the annex building (where the reception is also located) with windows to the yard. The breakfast buffet can be seen! The courtyard, which we didn't use, I imagine in the summer is quite beautiful! It looks very idyllic and it will be worth relaxing on a bed there! I would book the house again for a short stay, even in the knowledge of the room size and quality.

Good condition - coming of age

A nice hotel in a very good location with an excellent breakfast buffet. The rooms are divided into three romantic houses. Unfortunately, the reception (including the boss, who should actually lead by example) lacks the attention and appreciation towards the guests; although it is somewhat friendly and the check-in and check-out run routinely.

Nice location.

On Sunday 09.08.2015 we went to Ascona for breakfast, 5 adults and 2 children. We arrived only at 10.15 (i.e. 15 minutes before the buffet was cleared), but the waiter, Mr. Ci Fu (I hope I wrote it correctly), welcomed us and recommended the best.

Breakfast at the port hotel

A good hotel right on the lake and yet romantic in the winding streets of Ascona. A beautiful courtyard and a well-kept, small hotel garden. We were already in this hotel 30 years ago - much has remained the same at the facility, some has been renovated. The booked room of a higher category was rather disappointing for us, thankfully we were transferred to another room (No.18) thanks to the attentive staff.

Romantic hotel in the winding streets and sea view possible

The location is distinctive, on a street corner facing the lake and the pedestrian path that runs along it. When we arrive at the end of the afternoon a trio plays welcoming music on the terrace of the nearby restaurant. Our room is nice and the balcony is very appreciated. We had dinner there, a nice kitchen and a warm service.
