Arctic gourmet cabin

Just do it! As adventurous foodies who also enjoy the comforts of 5 start hospitality, after months of researching to decide on the best way to actualize our bucket list desire to see the Northern Lights, I came across a glowing review that led me to this this gem, The Arctic Gourmet, and it was perfect! There's only 2 cabins -- we booked both cabins for 4 days and brought another couple with us. The large beds are super comfortable. The bath, shower, sauna and hot tub are all great, but they are shared between the two cabins, which was fine for us as we booked with friends (this is the way to do it - your friends will love you even more for insisting they join you on this adventure). I cannot say enough about how this experience was carefully curated by our host. Johan is the consummate hospitality guru, anticipating every need and organizing every aspect of our time there, complete with personal airport pick up and return, dog sledding and snowmobiling excursions, and a visit to the Ice Hotel. An amazing chef, Johan has perfected creating the long satisfying joy of a delectable meal crafted with care, in a setting where time seems to stand still. One course after another, embodying both the essence of the rustic Nordic wilderness, and the richness of the finest and freshest local ingredients, and each paired intentionally with wines, beers, and aperitifs, were presented beautifully with a shared story now and then behind each dish or ingredient. We REALLY enjoyed these long dinners. Our host was never over-present, but also always available, incredibly accommodating, and would pop up magically to accentuate meaningful moments for us that would become trip highlights -- 3am with steamy hot cocoa for us as we awed at the northern lights, impromptu late night cocktails as we were jamming out to our favorite tunes in the hot tub under the stars. hot soup and warm crusty bread before our ride back to the airport. You truly leave feeling like you made a new awesome friend in Sweden and it is obvious he loves what he does. We had the opportunity to meet his delightful family as well. If you're considering other options in the area -- resorts, ice hotel, etc, just stop, and book this experience instead. It's personal, and it's really perfect.
