We grateful appreciate our stay at Kaptensvillan.
Tho owner were always there to answer questions and help us feel satisfied.
A splendid breakfast was served in their calm and cosy room for breakfast. ( even the very early morning before the race!)
The rooms were very nice with such a comfortable bed!
Air conditioned room made the sleeping easy. There were lot of space to keep your luggage and “things.”
We highly recommend Kaptensvillan for any purpose you have when visiting Kalmar.

A three night visit with everything you can wish for

Wonderful B&B in a newly renovated villa located on a quiet street a few minutes walk from Kalmar Castle. Welcoming ambiance and you really feel that the owner has put a lot of effort into making this a great place. All rooms are tastefully decorated and have good facilities, each with their own bathroom. Plentiful breakfast buffet. Fast wifi. We arrived late when there was no staff, and we received clear and good instructions about our arrival.

Everything is good

This B&B is a wonderful haven when you need to relax and find your inner peace. Each room is individually beautifully furnished (stayed here before in another room than this time). The hostess is super nice and the service is excellent. The B&B is located close to the castle and it's just a 10 minute stroll to downtown. Already looking forward to going back some day soon.

A heavenly place

Stayed here two night. Friendly and cozy. The room was quaint and the bathroom was modern and roomy. The breakfast was fabulous, including home made smoothies, freshly made croissants and different kinds of spreads. The castle is only a 3 minute walk from the place. I’m definitely coming back!

Wonderful stay

We highly recommend staying at Katensvillan. Marika was very welcoming and her home is gorgeous. The rooms were quaint, clean and the bedding was perfect. We had one room with an attached bathroom, one room with a bathroom just down the hall - both were roomy and clean. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you, Marika!

Charming B&B close to Kalmar Castle

My wife and I stayed in this small family-owned B&B in late August, ‘19, for three nights and enjoyed it very much.  It is in a historic and charming old captain’s house, and is both welcoming and well-managed by its current owners, a friendly and hard-working family who live on the premises. Everything is fresh and bright, and sparkling clean.

The location is in a quiet residential area just a short walk from the iconic Kalmar Castle.  Just a block away is a neighborhood of preserved houses that are featured on Rick Steve’s self-guided tour of the city.  Between the Kapstillan and the Castle is a block-wide pleasant park that runs the length of the Castle precinct, offering terrific views of the ramparts and towers. In the other direction is a beautiful wooded cemetery with equally good views of the castle and the sea beyond.  There are a couple of restaurants nearby (the one in the park itself is very good) but to get to the center of town requires a short drive or a 15-20 minute walk. There is free parking for three cars and more spaces along the street, but these require payment.

 Our room was on the second floor, oriented toward the Castle.  Although it was described as a “castle view” room, trees and other foliage prevented anything but a glimpse.  The room was large and attractive, with two sets of windows that let in plenty of light.  It had a comfortable double bed (two twins pushed together), a desk, armoire, two night stands, and a reading chair. The tiled bathroom was also attractive, with a clamshell shower enclosure and both a rain shower and a handheld head.  The pedestal sink didn’t offer much room for storage, but a small table near it did the job.

The breakfast buffet was in the cozy dining room on the ground floor and was adequate though not extensive.  There was some fresh fruit, meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereals, and yogurt.  Coffee was either from a prepared pot or from a single-cup machine.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kapstillan and recommend it to those who like charm and character, and who don’t mind not being in the center of town.

Well Run B&B

We were there at the end of September. The B&B lies next to Kalmar Castle, on a quiet street, clean room, good servie. It feels llike at being guests in a nice house. The on-line booking is very convenient. we really enjoy the stay.

Home style cosy hotel

If I could rate this a 10, I would. The house is beautiful and the room was tastefully decorated. The house was spotless and very welcoming. Marika was friendly and provided great suggestions for our stay! The outdoor garden and seating areas were quite lovely. The location is perfect for walking to the sites and town. Very calming and relaxing stay.

Beautifully restored, room was great, and the service by our host was exceptional. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Highly recommended!

We had less than 24 hours in Kalmar and this was the perfect place to spend them. Arrived late at night and were welcomed by the owner who even removed several spiders who had entered the open windows in our room. After a great night’s sleep, we went downstairs to find a lovely breakfast buffet waiting. We were excited to walk the short block to the castle after our meal.
