Fredensborgs Herrgård

The best with Fredensborgs is definitely the location. It is very practical if one is visiting Vimmerby/Astrid Lindgren's World and it offers a package for that as well. The price is more affordable than the possibilities offered by Astrid Lindgren's world anyway. The place offers possibilities for everyone, not just kids families. There is for example, also a golf course. Kids are spoiled by the enormous garden/small woods, the playground, minigolf and especially, the lake. There is a beach with shallow waters, where kids really can enjoying swimming or just dipping their feet. The lake has clean water and in a warm day, as we have experienced, it is quite refreshing but not too icey. The herrgård is very beautiful, with a tower and quite well preserved interior. We didn't explore too much of the building, though. The hotel experience is though average. The rooms are dislocate din some form of barracks on the side of the herrgård. That wing is very boring and a bit outdated. The room is very tiny. It works for four people if it is not too warm and one is staying just one night. There is barely place to put one owns belonging. The bathroom is very simple, lacking a bit of surfaces where to put things. There was a quite good set of towels available to use. The room was anyway quite clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nothing incredible. There was a quite good choice of typical scandinavian breakfast items, quite fresh and some interesting items. The warm dishes (scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages) were not the stars of the buffet. A bit boring with just regular coffee and fresher juices would have been appreciated. (they were at least presented in a nice way). It would be nice with something that would cover the taste of also the foreigners guests. All together, a very nice experience, especially for the kids.
