Loka Brun is a spa, hotel and restaurant set in an idyllic location. The spa is very well organised, lots of facilities, various outdoor plunge pools/ jacuzzis that are located by a lake. It is an extremely well run, clean with lovely changing rooms. The buffet style lunch in the main building is really good and the location is just idyllic. A very relaxing experience. Highly recommend

Nice hotel rooms, wonderful staff, fantastic food. The lunch and breakfast buffet was really good. The three course dinner was amazing. The massage was very relaxing and pools were warm and nice. Would definitely go back some other time.

This is a wonderful place for recreation. A number of oppurtunities from physical to intellectual. We stayed for one night only and I definitely suggests at least two to be able to do and see all thats need to be seen.

From the moment you check in you notice that you start to rewind and relax. Professional staff at the reception greets you and, in our case, the afternoon tea is waiting. The day we visited in April it was sunny and a table outside was preffered. Good tea, scones and scenery, just relaxing. The next move is to the water saloon where again we are met by helpful professional staff and enjoys some absolutely wonderful hours of pools and saunas, just relaxing. The dinner is magnificent, as it uses to be here. The evening we were there the serving staff seemed to be rather new and did not keep the high standard they normally do. Usually every course is presented but this evening only the starter was presented to our table. A small gesture that could be slightly better. Summary: one of the nicest Place to visit to escape the everyday life for a while and just relax.

We were thoroughly enchanted by this place--so many lovely old buildings, attractively  arranged in a beautiful landscape with gardens, lakes, and forest!  Our room had a fantastic view and was very quiet and comfortable.  Scattered around the complex are many interesting exhibits about the history of this venerable spa.  The food was delicious, except for the mashed potatoes being a bit too salty.  Limited menu choices.  We had originally planned to stay at Grythyttan Gästgivaregård, but discovered upon arrival there that a deafening rock music festival was playing next door; how relieved we were at being told that this wonderful sister establishment (run by the same family) was located just a few miles down the road!

Beautiful location, nice ambiance, very nice spa.
Hotelroom was nice, set up a little awkward and  missing some little things that you generally find in a 4* hotel (e.g. coffee maker)
The New Years event was good - afternoon tea and welcome drink was a nice touch, the beer sampling ...well it was not a sampling but rather a story telling and q/a. Again nice but id rather have paid for a sampler tray and use this opportunity to try the various Spendrup beer varieties and talk with a brewmaster about the differences in brewing etc.
The dinner was just ok. The presentation was very nice but the food and wine combination was strange - with the dessert bubbly being a total failure at the end.
The main course was excellent - the two appetizers were mayonnaise drenched sth and ok (if you like mayonnaise) and the dessert while looking very nice was lacking in flavour. Next time : keep it simple, work with the flavours the ingredient you use offer. As for the wines...it is ok to offer wine pairings but it is not ok to not offer the option to buy wine by the bottle or other drinks for that matter. So just put a drink menu on the table...(and btw there are people who prefer no alcohol or beer over wine...its ok)
The breakfast was very good but for an after new years breakfast an ending time of 11 am is a bit early.
Would I go back- yes but likely not for the new years event . There was not enough time to enjoy the location / spa as on new years day one could only access the spa until 1200 and I am not convinced that the additional cost for the newyears event are worth it.

Well the buffet lunch is a nice one. There are two main dishes, cold cuts and different types of salats. The coffee and scones was a nice end of the lunch. The restaurant has a nice setting. I can highly recommend the lunch. See my next review for the hotel part of Loka brun.
