It was for us a real pleasure to be back at Young Island. We came over whilst staying elsewhere for lunch and Sunday buffet which was delightful. We then chose to book ourselves in for our last couple of days and which wrapped up our 3 week stay here in St Vincent very nicely. Our cottage was very comfortable and we appreciated the air conditioning! The outside shower is always special. The staff are wonderful and always make us feel like we are coming home. We hope to be back next year!

Had a great time here. It's a unique spot popular with divers who decamp to it for weeks at a time, and with good reason. Just a few minutes away at Indian Bay is a lesser-known snorkeling spot that is world-class, absolutely replete with sea life. The long-running resort itself is private, with a fascinating history and vibe. By the end of our week, we were ready to move in.

Some things worth pointing out:

1) You can easily spend your whole time eating the excellent food at the resort, but it's a nice change to take the motor launch across the bay to any number of restaurants. We particularly liked the world-class MINT Cafe, which wouldn't be out of place in NYC or SF. Or if you want a fast lunch, ask for the resort's bar menu and get a burger and fries. Perfect, reasonably priced, casual.

2) Some of the cabins are up the hill, so if you don't like stairs, be sure to choose a lower one. But then you'd miss out not just on extra exercise, but hilarious wildlife encounters. Late one night, we heard a snapping sound and encountered a startled large blue crab who raised his claws but ran off. Another time a large parrot-colored iguana darted across our path. And then there were the agouti, these cute hamster-like creatures that would forage in the leaves.

3) The staff are lovely and friendly. In this age of disconnection and people face down in their phones all day, it's nice to encounter warmth and kindness. Truly stand-out levels of service. They even host an evening cocktail party at the pool. Go. You meet other guests, making your stay even better, plus the bartender isn't stingy when he pours drinks.

4) You can stock your fridge with beer and sundries from the local markets. There is one along the road to the east, a quick cab ride from the dock across from the resort. Nothing better than kicking back with a drink on your private deck, looking out at the bay.

5) This is not a busy, crowded resort. There are a limited number of cabins and you can keep to yourself if you want. You barely see other guests, at least compared to other resorts. At one end of the resort's beach, they do allow day visitors to visit but it doesn't affect you as the rest of the beach is off limits to them (and there were days no one came).

6) Outdoor shower. Bliss.

7) At the airport, there is a place at the back that serves excellent take-out. Get the chicken roti. It's fantastic. (I was worried about foodborne illness, but shouldn't have. Sure beat airline food.)

This resort is special, I have to say. It has an age-old vibe, it isn't synthetic and phony. You feel connected to a different time. Don't come here if you want pre-packaged standardized boredom.

PS we noticed comments about nightclub noise. It's really not that big a deal. There is a bar that occasionally plays music that carries across the water, but it isn't loud. If you're sensitive to noise, just pack earplugs. We did, anticipating a racket, but never used them.

Private, relaxing, unique

Good value. Rooms are dated, but still good value overall. Good food options and drinks are reasonably priced.

Incredible unique island resort with lots of character. The area is super safe and all of the islands restaurants are just a 30 second ferry ride away. The staff was excellent and you can’t beat the views and nature at young island.

Stayed here for 3 nights after a 7 day catamaran charter.  Food is exceptional.  The fresh baked bread is amazing.  I ate more bread in three days than in a year!  The staff is very friendly, hardworking and willing to help.  I had a massage one afternoon and it was fantastic.  I wish I had made another appt. while I was visiting.  Groups of day trippers were there 2 of  our 3 days.  It definitely changes the vibe of the resort and they do not have enough beach loungers to accommodate.  They should set aside chairs for resort guests.  The nightclub noise across the water is an issue.  Luckily, I was able to sleep through it.  My husband was not so lucky.  Bring ear plugs.  There were a lot of sea urchins.  Bring water shoes.  All in all it was a wonderful place to get our land legs back after a charter before returning home. 

Great Food & Service.  Loud Noise

The property has a good location and helped with excursions. There were a few things like a free ferry to Kingstown in their web info that does not exist. Overall, a very good resort.

Young Island is about relaxation and sun. And food!!  Very very good Caribbean food any every other food you’d expect snd not expect.  The island of St. Vincent has real farms…they grow real food and fish real fish. The island has a fabulous fresh water source. Best drinking water…better than the States. 

Noise travels over water. There is a noise issue with a night club across the bay. It is bothersome on Friday night. Get over it!  Young Island is just special…from a quieter and more gentle era.

A real Lu good and special place…

Water taxi to island was prompt. Our room was one half of a duplex cottage - listed as Superior - quite private. Great outdoor shower. Food was amazing, at all meals. Good beach good pool. Need more chaises at beach. Spa massages were great. Walked around Island, hilly and good exercise. Fort D was closed due to rockfalls. Staff were very attentive. We loved our room. We would go back in a heartbeat.

It's J & E and we are safely back home after our week in paradise with you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our special occasion stay with you, one that we'll remember for the rest of our life.
We were picked up at the ferry dock by King Charles and then greeted by the lovely Olinda, who offered us 2 rum punches and took us for private check in at the office.
Our week in St. Vincent & The Grenadines/Young Island Paradise then began. Manager extraordinaire Bianca Porter had booked us into Luxury Cottage #10.
 If you stay here, spoil yourself and stay in this cottage!
 Upon entry it looks like your King Bed is floating on the Caribbean sea which appears directly behind the headboard! You also get a separate full sized Living Room, Private patio with loungers, hammock...Soaker Lounge pool...and a Gazebo perched beside a cliff and the jungle, and overlooking the Caribbean which splashes against the cliff!  The piece de resistance is the Outdoor Shower, you really feel you are showering outside in the jungle!!!
The grounds are akin to being in the Jungle and are kept  immaculate. The pool is large, and the staff work hard to ensure you are happy.

The Food is simply amazing. Patricia and Zerelda served us amazing waterfront Breakfasts featuring delicious Fish, Pancakes, Omelettes and French Toast that was set afire! 
Dinners were tasty great portions, and the Filet Mignon was to die for.
Curried Chicken, Duck Breast, Grilled Steak, and Lamb kabob were all superb!
Young Island make their own breads and we sampled Banana, Coconut, Raisin, Cinnamon, White and whole wheat during our week.
The Private Young Island Beach is white sand heaven and affords great snorkeling too! Loungers, and hammocks are both present for you to employ.
To conclude, we had a 10/10 experience!
Young Island is as close to Heaven on Earth as you can get.
It's simply Paradise Found! 
Treat yourself, you deserve to stay here!

WISH I COULD GIVE 6 STARS! ****** BIANCA PORTER & CREW ARE AMAZING! PARADISE FOUND ON YOUNG ISLAND!!!

Yes, it is quaint, private and rustic.  Less than 30 bungalows on the hotel’s private island.  Food is delightful.  HOWEVER, there is a club across the water that blasts music into the early morning.  Several guests while I was here complained about the obnoxious noise.  If you stay here, don’t plan on sleeping unless you bring thick ear plugs.
