Bay Guesthouse must surely be one of Gros Islet's best kept secrets.   Dyson was amazing, so friendly and helpful, he really made our stay very comfortable and relaxing.   The Guesthouse sits on a small outcrop between 2 beaches, the view is incredible, you can see the all manor of Cruise Ships, Yachts, Boats, even Long Ships, I kid you not, I have never seen so many and so varied sea faring crafts.  Dyson has hammocks, and sun loungers in the garden area, so you just sit back and enjoy the view!   The guesthouse is about a 10 min walk to pigeon Island, and about 30-40 min walk into Rodney Bay, or you can bus or taxi it, if you prefer!  It's a few minutes walk to The Landings, an exclusive hotel complex, which is just lovely, and you can purchase a day pass or just pay separately  to use the watersport equipment. The best bit about the guesthouse is, that JUMP UP FRIDAY is right across the road, with fresh fish being cooked on a Friday and Saturday night, which is amazing, and when the whole of Gros Islet turns into a huge street party, where the rum punch is not to be missed! Excellent I would definitely stay here again!   :)

A true jewel in Gros Islet

We spent two weeks here in February 2020. The location is outstanding, on the edge of the village Gros Islet.
Accommodation is basic, but clean and functional. There is a fridge / freezer, gas hob, basic cooking utensils - all you need to prepare a basic snack or breakfast. Air conditioning worked well.
Dyson, the manager, was very helpful and the two resident dogs Patch and Paula were a delight, another review mentions dog mess in the gardens at the time we were there, that was not our experience, any mess was promptly cleared away by Dyson.
There is a bar opposite the guesthouse, and local shops are only a short walk away. The local minibus service connects to Rodney Bay (about 10 minutes) and onwards to Castries and is extremely cheap. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a bus.
Local bars and restaurants were excellent, no access to the sea directly from the property, but there is a good beach less than 10 minutes walk through a field. Continue along the beach to Pigeon Island.
The Friday night street party is a must do.
All in all an excellent holiday, highly recommended, and would not hesitate to book again.

Panoramic Views

We have been staying at the Bay Guest House for years.    A few years ago the Bay guest House was sold. We go with 10 people and rent the whole house.  We have always booked direct as we want the whole house and that is difficult to do on line.  Last year before we left we booked for this year.  We talked many times and made the final confirmation before we booked our flights.  Both Andre and Dyson said yes our reservations were confirmed.  WE asked repeatedly about giving a deposit and they said not to worry as they knew us so well.  When we arrived I was told that they did not have rooms for us.  The stuck all 10 of us in a 2 bedroom very dirty apartment with one bathroom.  We had booked the house from Feb. 6-16.  They offered no help in finding another rental  which believe me is difficult when you have 10 people.  We were so socked and upset since we genuinely thought they had become our friends.  We stayed in these very cramped and dirty conditions for 3 nights while we tried to find new accommodations.  I could not believe how run down the place had become.   You could not sit on the beautiful property anymore as there was dog poop everywhere.  We found an apartment villa in Rodney Bay finally for Sunday to Sunday.    All through this someone named Tracy who we have never met or talked to in the past blamed us for not booking properly.  We booked the same way we have every year so Tracy how would we know any differently.     Don"t stay here.

STAY AWAY

Sadly on our 2nd visit to the Bay Guesthouse i woke in the night to a stranger in our bedroom - we quickly realised we had been robbed.The owner took 14 hours to come to see us and promised security cameras the next day - in his reply to my review on Booking.com he said he had installed discreet cameras - this is a lie as the manager Dyson told us the cameras were not up - in fact they were still in the box in the office.  He also said that he offered us a full refund and the chance to move - This too is untrue - I would have moved anywhere having been given this option  
I realise now after reading new reviews that the security was an issue and Andre had been aware of the risk to his guests - sadly he did nothing and I have to live with the memory of a strange man in our room while we slept - i am just thankful that we were not harmed - It has cost and awful lot of money and the rest of our holiday  getting our stuff replaced - and the amount of calls we had to make have been charged at premium rate as we had to call the UK many times - we only get one holiday a year and its been ruined.  Andre [-] is completely to blame as he had prior knowledge of the risks and chose to ignore them -

We were robbed in the night - the owners were aware of previous security issues but ignored them - you are not safe !!!!

Bay Guesthouse is a quaint little guesthouse ON the beach in Gros Islet. It offers SPECTACULAR views of the whole bay and a thirty second walk into the sea ( or less )! I am amazed at the price of this accommodation, considering the location of it. Other than the "island-y" atmosphere, being in Gros Islet offers a unique experience - one that you could not get from staying in a commercial hotel! Immersing with the locals is a great addition, and there are plenty of small cafes and restaurants around. This was the best trip yet. I recommend 100% :)))))

A true local experience in paradise!

This place is quite basic but is clean enough and has air conditioning so is decent value for the price. The manager, Dyson, is a great guy and very helpful, can be a little difficult to contact but I believe he's working on that. Location is right by the beach, there is a lovely friendly bar over the road and buses and shops are close by.

A good local experience.

We cannot believe that the Bay Guesthouse has a Trip Advisor ranking of 93% between Excellent and Very Good.  We rank it as Terrible.  

Andre [-], who held himself out to be the Manager when we reserved many months in advance, never answered our emails as we approached arrival date and sought confirmation that our reservation was firm.  Neither does he answer his telephone or return calls when a message is left.  When we arrived, no one was there to let us in---someone at the bar across the street called a chap named Dyson who eventually arrived to give us a key to our unit.

There are three units on the ground floor (all tiny) and one on the first floor that is large and spacious.  For a one–month stay we had reserved a ground floor unit without knowing it was so small.  There was no soap, no Kleenex, no nothing in the bathroom.  We spent five days arguing with Dyson to be moved upstairs.  We moved out the day after, in the middle of the night, a burglar tried to pull one of our small bags through the grill that protected an open window.  After that happened, [-] finally deigned to show up.  But we were no longer interested in staying there.

The views are scenic, but they are no compensation for a place that provides no service and no security.

Avoid At All Costs!!!

Guesthouse is a 35min drive from Castries ferry terminal. Owner/Manager is barely on site, and didn’t seem to be even aware of the booking. Nobody was there for check in. Luckily other guests had the phone number of the owner/manager. It is a problem on arrival and anytime you need something. The room wasn’t particularly clean, but bearable. The property doesn’t lock properly as some of the windows don’t close. 
The view over the sea / sunset and the terrace were really nice.
