Super yummy food, friendly people and cheap prices! Went for dinner in the evening and had a delicious selection of curries with beer, mostly veggie options with some meat, very good value for money along with great service.

We brought our laundry to this place because it was way cheaper than in our own guest house. But there was a reason it was so cheap. Some of our clothes came back with pink stains. The family made promises to fix it all. After 4 tries and the same amount of promises being broken we ended up with stained clothes and not even a return of the money we payed for the laundry. A price that was way less than the costs of the clothes that have to be rebought.  Horrible experience, the family is not as friendly as they pretend to be! 

Don't bring your laundry here! 

The owner & family very friendly. they always try to their best. price is fair & very close to beach. they guide us safe wonderful diving & snorkeling tour, because there are many unsafe expensive boat services in uppuveli beach. break fast & foods are very delicious. Rooms are somewhat small, but it is valued for the money. nice garden with the big trees fell relax for reading & chat with friends.

Nice Quite place in Uppuveli

Location and price (1500/1700 R) were great. It wasn't far from the beach or Fernando's bar. However, they tried to drag us over the table a few times. So we had to pay 750 R for a tea, although it was on the card 150. The same thing happened at dinner. In the card the prices were changed very illegally with a pen (the curry from 400 to 850 R). After half an hour of discussion we got the normal price, but the owners then behaved completely childishly.

Nice, cheap room, cheating staff.

My friend and I stayed for 4 nights.
The room is basic but clean with a private bathroom.
During the 3 first nights, everything was ok.
We didn't chat a lot with the family but our relationship was normal.
There is a restaurant is the hotel. Everything is overpriced and usual prices are not respected. In addition, You will be charged 10% for service, even if you buy a bottle of water. It's the only restaurant around that do such thing.
For our fourth night, we had to change room because ours was booked.
We had another one, with shared bathroom.
At night, there was a general electricity shut down in the village. When we came back to our room, there were the hotel generator just next to our window.
It was very noisy and smelly. We couldn't breathe fresh air. Only diesel.
We asked them to change room because it wouldn't be possible to sleep.
They answered that they had no room available (I have serious doubt about it) so we decided to pack and leave.
At the beginning, they asked us 5 nights instead of 3.
We payed 3 but we didn't want to pay for the last. The started to threaten us. They circled our vehicle and yelled at us. All the family was there. They were 5 or 6 people yelling at us.
We asked to call the police but the woman of the guesthouse is policewoman so it's useless.
This situation lasts more than 1 hour. We were stucked in our vehicle and we couldn't do anything. They wanted us to pay for the night we didn't spend!
They were extremely agressive. They insulted us many times.
We had no choice to give them money. No one in the area helped us at this time.

Avoid. Agressive and crazy family

+:The only positive thing is the proximity to the beach -: Over the past month in Sri Lanka, this is unfortunately the worst place we slept. The hygiene is deplorable even for the most adventurous. The price is not even 1800 Rs, 500 Rs would be enough for such a service. For 1200 elsewhere, we had very good room quality. Nothing has been reinvested in the rooms for at least a decade. The backyard cleaning has not been done for years either.

The most uncomfortable guest house, a shame.

1500rps for a nice clean room, double bed, ceiling fan, mosquito net, 5 min walk from beach (cut through Fernando's) AND breakfast. Can't go wrong. I've stayed in more expensive absolute hovels. The family were very friendly and welcoming, the son Archie speaks perfect English.

Lovely, bargain

But the place is really dirty and depressing and populated by a lot of big cockroaches. For a price like that, there are better solutions, so I suggest you do me a favor and take a closer look around, it's worth it!

Home smiling and pleasant family pension. the owner asks for room payment on arrival which surprised us a little bit the rooms are short and we had a sdb for our triple room no keys to the doors but just a small lock. breakfast is more expensive than average but right there is little dinner in the evening a good kitchen fruit juices are good we are very close to the beach.
