We first stayed at the Glendower hotel about 20+ years ago, it was dated then, and fairly well maintained.  We thought after 20+ years it would have been updated, but sadly not.   Our recent stay at this hotel was from Feb.8-11.  Glendower hotel is centrally located and the food was excellent.  The rooms are very spacious.  The restaurant and bar area was tidy. The garden was immaculate.  However, we faced many issues during our stay and management was promptly informed and most of the matters were resolved.  The staff need to be able to speak and understand English.  I would be happy to discuss our impressions and observations with the management/owners if they are interested in hearing about our experiences.  Bottom line is CLEANLINESS is of utmost importance and staff should be trained to check all aspects of the rooms before they are released to guests.   More staff is required to manage this lovely colonial-style hotel.

Bad experience

We had booked this hotel expecting a medium quality room and a great lobby/bar experience.  Instead we discovered that the entire lobby and bar area was closed due to construction and our room was so disgusting we almost checked out and moved to a different hotel.  The bathroom and towels were so dirty that my husband and I both chose not to shower.  We reluctantly decided 
 to sleep here for the one night but ate at a different hotel.  I expressed my disappointment to the staff but they were completely indifferent.  I have written over 120 reviews in the last 10 years and have never given a 1 dot review before… BEWARE!!!

The worst!

This hotel is in 5 minutes walk from nuwara eliya town,wow this a colonial bungalow .seema quite old and the ambiance was perfect. Friendly and attentive staff. The rooms a quites specious and the rate is also reasonable. Thank you Glendower staff for making our stay a memorable one.keep up the good work

Attentive staff

It was our first visit to the Glendower. Verry Welcoming . Plesent and very helpful staff. We were in room no 7. It was very specious room . Food is very delicious .

Cool.......

This hotel is in the city near the famous Grand hotel and it's walking distance to many places such as Nuwaraeliya town, Victoria Park & Race course. It has a beautiful garden and the interior is also gives you a rich colonial atmosphere. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. Overall we had a good time there and happy to visit this hotel again. 

A beautiful hotel in the heart of the city

My most favorite is soup , good service by the staff ( Paul & Stephen) very good service and very tasty food and much more that we are in England when you go inside the hotel or the restaurant very much concern on customers need and many ore options to select .

Little England

Hotel Glendower is ideally located in the middle of two of another excellent hotels, The Grand and Araliya Green Hills, as we were being in the both before and wanted a quite atmosphere, we chose this hotel and this little place did not dissapoint us at all.

excellent hotel with very quite environment, a nice garden and a good bar. the staff was very professional and helpful and the food too was good. 

if you plan to stay peacefully in the heart of Nuwara Eliya for a longer period, this is the place you must try. the rates too are reasonable comparing to what it offers. We'll for sure visit back again to this wonderful hotel.

A gem in the heart of Nuwara Eliya

I’ve tried to contact them for 2 weeks about my booking with no response. I’m raising it with my credit card company, this lack of communication feels like a scam! I haven’t even received check in details for the booking that starts in 2 days! DO NOT BOOK HERE!

This is cute little hotel in heart of Nuwara Eliya. Among thousands of properties, I finally selected this hotel because of the location, price and good communication. 
Rooms are spacious, well furnished, has cable TV, a safe, a fridge and a very good bathroom with uninterrupted hot water.
Staff is very friendly, caring and attentive. 
We booked 2nights half board basis. English breakfast is excellent. Their Chinese dinner is average but the second day Western dinner is delicious. I recommend to order Western for dinner. Fruit juices and soups are very good too.
Hotel has a well maintained beautiful Garden, a cute English pub and well furnished and decorated interior.
We are well satisfied for the price we paid and I definitely recommend the hotel for family and couple stays.

Cute little Hotel in the Heart of Nuwara Eliya 

My wife and I stayed at this British styled Glendower Hotel in N' Eliya , from 18 to 20 September 2020 with some of my school friends. It was a very pleasant and a homely stay  I would say. The staff was very courteous and treated us very well with some good food. Their GM Mr. Malcolm was always helpful and personally  looked into the needs of all in-house guests. 
The Hotel is also very clean , all floors well carpeted with large rooms with very  beautiful décor. The washrooms also very colonial type and clean.
We take this opportunity the Thank Mr. Malcolm, Milan and the rest of the team for looking after us well.
