What a beautiful setting for two nights of our holiday ,so peaceful  and relaxing . Room was very comfortable and spacious. Lovely food with lots of different things to try . Enjoyed sitting having a beer looking over the village and admiring the stunning scenery . Lovely walks from there as well .

This was an amazing experience both in location and a wonderful host.We had a very enjoyable stay here with David explaining the history and developmentt of this place to provide help and training to local people.The food was all vegetarian with our host explaining traditional recipes that he was using. He was an enjoyable host with lots of local information .

An Excellent Holiday Destination cut away from it all  …… Dave went the extra mile to make my too short a visit a comfortable & memorable one. Full marks for the cuisine that was exceptional & beautifully presented. Keep an eye out for the Resident Tour Guide who never lets u out of sight 🐕😀

This was our second visit to Gammaduwa and we were not disappointed.  We chose to stay there as our first stop on our Sri Lankan holiday as a wind-down from work before starting our Sri Lankan travels.  We wished that we could have stayed longer.

A wonderful welcome by Dave and his team.  We had a lovely relaxing stay which included a hike through some amazing countryside as well as short walks around the tea estate.

The room was comfortable and clean.  Food was delicious and Dave and his chef created some super gluten-free alternatives.  Best GF bread ever!

Charming old tea plantation house updated with spacious rooms.  The five stars is as much or more for the staff and food—which is truly wonderful—than the room itself, which was fine but unremarkable.  The library was great and you can take long walks through the tea plantation, and the views are incredible.  But overall it was the staff and the food that we remember most fondly.  Everyone was amazing.

It's an excellent place. What I especially liked is that it feels so cozy, so homely. And Dave, as everyone else has mentioned before, is such a great host. We really felt super relaxed while staying. The nature around is beautiful and the  food is something special. 

The bungalow is still a hidden gem but only 30 minutes away from the Kandy Dambulla/Sigiriya road. It's actually very accessible. Since we are residents we've been to many 5 star hotels all over Sri Lanka and yet Gammaduwa bungalow is now our new favorite.


Gammaduwa Bungalow is a wonderful heritage tea planter's home located high up in the Knuckles Mountains which has been lovingly renovated and restored by Dave and Sengli, who along with their  team welcomed us while maintaining covid requirements. 

The local Sri Lankan cuisine amazing and  creative with such as a young jackfruit curry which to a carnivore was so unbelievably like meat, along with other dishes and chutneys tingled my taste buds. 

The choice of either western or local cuisine, afternoon teas with fresh baked cakes and scones washed down with their own artisan tea was also something else.

Enjoying the views whilst sitting out on the veranda being served breakfast afternoon tea or dinner feeling  more like part of the family than a paying client, certainly one enters as a customer and leaves as a friend this my second trip to this relaxing hideaway in remote and dramatic mountainous tea plantation setting. 

Thanks David, Sengli  and your team for yet again a welcoming and restful experience in this haven of peace, in the middle of the mountains and wish you all a wonderful and safe 2022 and the opportunity for you to welcome many more guests to enjoy the wonderful experience and many activities that are on offer as part of the Gammaduwa Experience I chose to just relax.

Lovely low key relaxing hideaway in remote and dramatic mountainous tea plantation setting. Dave and Sen were great hosts, learned a lot about the area and history of their particular restored charmer. Great food, fresh baked cakes, and of course perfect tea. We quickly resolved to return at the first opportunity!

We spent 3 days in this haven of peace, in the middle of the mountains.  It is a peaceful place where everyone is there for you but not intrusive at all.
The whole team welcomed us respecting the restrictions of the covid while being warm.

Gammaduwa Bungalow is a wonderful old tea planter's home high up in the Knuckles Mountains. It has been lovingly renovated and restored by Dave and his partner and has glorious views over the valley. Sitting out on the verandah being served afternoon tea or dinner we felt more like house guests than paying customers. We enjoyed some wonderful walks, as well as just sitting in the garden watching the sun go down. The food was amongst the most excitingly creative Sri Lankan cuisine we experienced on our trip. Thanks not only to Dave but also to his professional and friendly staff, all of whom have been recruited from the local village. An inspiring local social enterprise. We would recommend a stay here to anyone looking for somewhere different.

my stay at the Gammaduwa Bungalow was simply amazing and relaxing. David being perfect hosts, the setting is idyllic, local cuisine is something else prepared by his team of from the local village village . Thank you Dave for your warm hospitality and have now met Sengli who unfortunately out of country during my first stopover

Our stay at the Gammaduwa Bungalow was simply amazing and relaxing. Dave, the host, and the staff are really kind and lovely. The bungalow has a beautiful view that could easily make you feel like you are in the heavens. The two dogs charlie and mouse were a delight and was a plus point from us animal lovers, to have them around. 

We loved our time at the Bungalow and would love to come back again and unwind and relax. 

I would highly recommend The Gammaduwa bungalow to anyone.
