Panangala Home Stay

This place is like a palace when you walk in! It's huge... The room is very comfortable with a nice view. The host and their family are very nice and will help you organise anything that you might need from transport to insect repellant. Which was great for a single traveller from australia. Oh and the home cooked meals were amazing after such a long trip. I would come back in a heartbeat.

We spent two nights here in Oct 2015 and the owners made our stay very enjoyable.  They were overly accommodating and extremely hospitable.  They had lots of local knowledge to provide suggestions on things to do and suggested the local (inexpensive) way to travel around Kandy which saved us money.

The room was large & clean and the food that was provided was good.  I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kandy that is close proximity to the lake.

The wifi connection was good but it would not be available late at night or early in the morning.

This is located in walking distance of Knady City near Darmaraja College. The owner is very lovely and welcoming. we had a nice breakfast and can recommend the food. Ground floor Rooms are not large but comfortable enough.

Palace in kandy

Great property with amazing hospitality

Very Helpful Owner

Pros:
Very friendly and helpful owner
Nice home cooked curry
Relatively close to centre with minimum traffic noise
Large room with a big bathroom

Cons:
Room door lock didn't work properly.
No key from main door so whilst late arrived we had to knock and wake up somebody to answer the door. (They go to bed early and wake up early).
The family is up early and starts cooking/brushing the floor etc at 6am.
Loads of dogs around which were able to bark continously for 2 hours in the middle of night.

Nice homestay

Aruni's Homestay at Panangala is located on a hill and thankfully away from busy traffic. 

Aruni was welcoming but we were underwhelmed by our room. Broken air con, broken door handle, no light switch in the room and a separate gloomy bathroom with leaking toilet. 

It is cheap and away from the hellish Kandy traffic. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on the food.
